<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Nicknames are a funny thing. Some fit snugly -- Iceman, Sleepy, Microwave -- while others are a bit more of a stretch -- Sir Charles and Penny to name less than three. But has a nickname ever carried more irony than the one Kevin Garnett has had to live with for years? Kid. Come on now ... Kid? This is a man who, as a teenager, moved from quiet South Carolina into the boiling pit of Chicago high school hoops, onto a Farragut Academy team that already had a bona fide legend -- Ronnie Fields -- running things. And quickly, quietly, Kevin managed to make himself the story of that city championship season. Kid?</div> Full Story Article was taken from the cover story of HOOP Magazine where Garnett graces the cover. Apparantley the magazine lines have finally been giving Garnett the love he deserves for this season all this once as he is also on the cover of SLAM... and an upcoming cover story on Sports Illustrated (with Cassell and Sprewell). I read that article a couple times. Great article. Garnett on three covers at once? Has that happened to any Timberwolf before. Great stuff.
I just read the article. It's a great read. People are all saying how AI struggled in his early life but most doesn't know what KG did in order to survive. His relationship with Malik is truly inspiring. Without Malik, he'll just be at least half a man that he is right now.
I hazve always had tremendous respect for KG as a player. Now I have a huge amount of respect for him as a person. Legal guardian of his sister at 13? Amazing. I think its obvious that the reason he never went to college is not because hes like Kobe and LBJ, or because he was too stupid to go to college like some people think, but because he needed to get money to support his family. Hes not just one of the best players in the NBA, hes one of the best people in all of sports.
Although it did surprise me that he signed an autograph for the kid without any hesitations. Word has it that KG's signature is one of the hardest to get. I guess he has a soft spot for kids.

I hope he would sign a autograph for me as well, if I ever get to meet him in my whole life.
