Hoopsworld is reporting no trades for Ptd. This news has me the closest I've been to thinking a trade is going to happen . .. since they are always wrong. :D

Yep I went and looked outside. Doesn't look like anything has changed. They must have somebody on staff who lives here, those sneaky bastards!

love that quote. If someone wants to pull the plug on their season/turn over their roster and a Gasol type trade comes up thats one thing, but you can't count on that. Otherwise the focus is on what they do have and their internal improvement... as it should be.

"We're well aware of where we are as an organization and where we want to go. We won't be doing anything to patch up this team or make a run for this year. Anything that we do is going to be for the future of the franchise. We know we have a young team and there are a lot of teams that are interested in our players. Kevin (Pritchard) and I will work hard to improve the team, but not for the sake of making a run for just this year. It would be something we feel helps us for the future, not just this year."

I hope this gets rid of the phrase "trade just for the sake of trading" . . . I hate that phrase bwcause what GM really is going to do that.

But the phrase "not trade for the sake of making a run this year" makes much more sense and is one that can get echoed by posters who want to "bake it."

Personally I think this team has too many young players who will alll eventually want more playing time. I would love to see KP trade some of that youth to get a vet for a run this year (it also consolidates the roster to allow for more draft day magic) I think Roy is playing incredible ball and one would expect that for years to come, but you never know, so stike while the iron is hot.

But that is why he is KP and I'm just a fan.

Thankfully, and I mean thankfully Nate doesn't make those decisions

hoopsworld is like reading one of those magazines in the checkout line at the grocery store. complete crap.

they use to have a great blazer writer named..... jeff roberston who kinda vanished. he was a good inside guy. when he left... they lost credibility.

Man, it's so weird that McMillan wouldn't come out and say that we are pursuing a trade for X player. It's seems obvious that he'd want to show the organization's cards early and often.

I mean, when I play Texas Hold 'Em with my buddies, I almost always show my cards before we start laying down chips. Especially when I have pocket aces.

This was a message to the rest of the league saying, "Your offers are insufficient."

Actually Wendell Maxey has been great since he moved to Portland two years ago to be the primary Blazers guy for their site, his blog is usually a really good read too. http://beyondthebeat.wordpress.com/

What Nate said only makes sense. While we want to do as well as we can this season, we don't want to do anything with the sole intent of improving for this season while hurting our future. Sure if we could make a deal that help us this year and in the future we'd do it, but otherwise it just doesn't make sense.

That's because Kirk Hinrich isn't a quality player. :drumroll:

not enough of an upgrade over Blake IMO.

I believe we already discussed this.

This is the only time I will probably ever agree with Mixum: hoopsworld is generally trash.

Don't tell anyone in the Blazers that.

Just keep repeating phrases like "Good floor general, lock down defense, scrappy, blue collar, team player" etc. etc.

No one has to find out about the actual quality of Kirk Hinrich. :devilwink:
