While missing a meeting may sound like a big deal to some, it's really not. Anyone who has spent much time around Miller knows that he is an intensely private and quiet individual. Sitting down and talking about things after a loss would be near the bottom of his list of favorite things to do, right next to being hung upside down by his toenails. Philly probably shouldn't read too much into this. That said, the Sixers may not be the best long-term fit for Miller. One destination Miller should consider this summer is Portland. The Blazers are in need of an upgrade at the point, and Miller's unassuming style would fit in very nicely in Portland. Miller could bring his experience and lead by example while simultaneously allowing Brandon Roy to remain the vocal leader and the team's best player in the clutch. I've been on this bandwago for several years....wish it was done sooner. but he's getting older the price shouldn't be high.

I hear neither Magic or Stockton are coming out of retirement, so the quest for the "perfect" PG is probably futile. Miller is a big upgrade over what we have.
Funny how he's managed to put up a pretty consistent 17 to 18 PER and good assist and FG perecentages in 10 years even with this hole in his game. Teams don't sag off miller because he can stick a 15 footer and post you up ... not to mention he finds the open man.
He averages about less than 1 3 point attempt per game over the last several years. I would bet many of those, were end of quarter or end of shot clock shots that had to go up. It all depends to me, what the team is going to ask him to do. If shooting the 3 one a regular basis is one of those things, he probably isn't a good fit. If it isn't, he probably will be fine.
If Webster starts next year, I don't think we need a PG shooting 3's and I think we would be just fine with Miller. I think he is a huge upgrade over Blake and he would allow Bayless time to develop behind him.
Andre Miller cannot stretch a defense with his three point shooting... that is absolutely true. But he does do many things well: get to the hoop, get to the line, abuse smaller PGs on the post, etc. The idea of Miller has grown on me lately... he's kind of slow and steady, but he's less slow than Blake. Miller isn't the most awesome guy ever, but he is better then Blake. If they can get him for reasonable money, why not?
if there is a better option that is reasonably attainable, I'd probably be for that. At least on paper Miller looks like a pretty decent fit for Portland's needs and budget. He's not the greatest PG, but he's a significantly better athlete then Blake and very heady. With five other 3 point shooters (Rudy 40% Martell 39% Travis 38% Roy 38% & Batum 37%) able to take advantage of his top drive, draw, and kick PG skills plus a PF with a great midrange game, Portland would still be able to spread out the D. He'd definitely add to their fastbreak ability, team D, and general ability to attack defenses. His age gives concern, but he's stayed amazingly healthy for 10 years and played some of his best ball the last few seasons. STOMP
Andre Miller has been on my radar as a potential pickup since before the trade deadline. He would be a big upgrade for the Blazers.
Maybe without a 3 point shooting PG, who is a decent enough mid-range shooter, the team won't rely on 3 point shots as much as they do.
Good point. If we have guys like Rudy and Webster on the perimeter, it could mask Miller's weak outside shooting. That's my one concern about him, but other than that, he'd be a definite upgrade over Blake. And it'd definitely take the the pressure of ballhandling duties off Brandon over the course of an 82-game season, but I'd imagine Roy would have to adjust his game a bit in playing with a real PG.
The free agent crop is far from spectacular. With that said, Miller is the best option/fit for the Blazers this summer. I hope it gets done.
It might even force Nate to be a little more creative with his offensive sets since right now, our PG really just hands it off to Brandon and spots up at the 3 in the corner most of the time. And that may be partly why Sergio wasn't too effective since he's not a spot-up 3-point shooter. And it'd certainly force the team to run a little more since Philly was most effective going out and running a lot of the time.
To be honest, anything that forces Portland to take fewer 3's is fine by me. They settled for way too many 3 pointers during the season.
Miller would be a great addition, and maybe he could even mentor Bayless. Blake is much better as a backup PG IMO...
