<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>by noballer07G-F Morris Peterson6-7 220Free agent guard-forward Morris Peterson has agreed to a four year, $23 million deal with the Hornets after spending seven seasons with the Toronto Raptors. ?Morris feels blessed for this opportunity to play for Coach Byron Scott with a great style of play,'? Peterson?s agent, Rob Pelinka said. ?To play with one of the top point guards in the NBA in Chris Paul and to play for an organization in a city where so much has happened that?s just a part of Morris because he has family there.'?My takeVery good signing by New Orleans. They finally hooked this guy in after he signed an offer sheet in 2004 before it was matched by the Raptors soon after. MoPete should come in and be our immediate starter at the shooting guard position, and will possibly chip in 12-14 PPG next year as well as solid three point shooting and backcourt defense. This signing also provides insurance in case Peja Stojakovic goes down to injury. So Whats Next? The Hornets are probably not done this offseason. Jannero Pargo, Desmond Mason, and Devin Brown have all expressed interest to continue with the team, and it looks as if the Hornets may keep 1 or 2 of these guys. They still need a true backup at the shooting guard position, and it wouldn?t be surprising if Haluska doesn?t make the squad, so keeping Devin Brown makes the most sense out of those three. The Hornets staff must make a decision; if they do decide to keep Brown, then they can reach into their summer league roster and sign a point guard like Milt Palacio or even Anthony Roberson.</div>
Good luck in New Orleans, Mo...He's always been one of my favourite raptors, and I rember last season he was our 2nd option, and he averaged I think like 17 ppg. He's a really great shooter, and he can fill it up and play defense if he gets the minutes. He was just in Sam's doghouse, and it looked like he wanted out.Our last holdout from the former playoff days is out of town. Looks like this is officially the start of the new look Raptors.I remember that the Hornets tried to sign him when he was a restricted free agent, but the Raps matched the offer. It looks like they've been fans for quite some time...the SG spot in New Orleans is pretty open, so he should get some decent playing time there. Once again, good luck Mo. And I hope Raptor fans have no hard feelings. I really hope he gets cheered when the Hornets visit the ACC next season. He's one of the greatest players to ever play for us....That's not saying much lol, but he's just a really solid player.
Great signing by the Hornets especially because I think Mason is going to leave. I always liked Mo Pete for some reason but I don't really know why Good Luck with this Hornets fans. I hope it works out for you guys.
Great signing by the Hornets, it gives them a solid outside threat (since Peja is never off the injured list) and a pretty good defender. Good decision by Mo Pete to go there, too. I'll enjoy seeing him in a Hornets jersey.Hopefully we have a home game against them so we can give him his ovation.
A bit of Q&A now that the deal is official.http://www.nba.com/hornets/news/qanda_23july2007.htmlHe chose the number 9 because it stands for rebirth. I believe George Lynch was the last player with that number on the Hornets.
What a great guy, he's definitely going to be a fan favorite in New Orleans. He's gonna wear number 8 which is my favorite number so that's a plus. I think he'll thrive with this team and help us become a playoff contender like we should be.
Yeah, with a bunch of teams improving, the bottom of the West will be very competitive this year. Teams such as the Lakers, Warriors, Clippers, Hornets, Grizzlies, Kings, and maybe even the Blazers fighting for the 7 and 8 spot, it should be fun.The Southwest division will also prove why it's the best with all 5 teams looking to make the playoffs.
