<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Rodney Rogers signed a one-year contract with the New Orleans Hornets on Tuesday after spending the last two seasons with the New Jersey Nets.

The 6-foot-7 forward has played 11 years in the NBA. He declined to exercise an option on the final year of his contract with the Nets and became an unrestricted free agent.

The Nets had already lost two key players from last season -- Kenyon Martin to Denver and Kerry Kittles to the Los Angeles Clippers.</div>

Rodney Rogers should provide the Hornets with a little outside shooting, not to mention he?s really bulky so he should be able to put a body on who ever he?s guarding. Good pick up for the Hornets, however is has yet to be determined where or not he will give it his all like what Robert ?Tractor? Traylor did.

Rodney Rogers is pretty similar to Lee Nailon( except Rogers has 3pt range ) who was with the Hornets in 2001. Rogers isnt going to give much effort on Defense, so I definately see him being a liablity against Western conference PF's on Defense. Iam not a big RR fan because of the lack of effort he displayed as a Net. But if I factor in the lack of perimeter shooting and offense on the Hornets frontline, Mashburn suffering from a possibly career facing injury. And Rodney knowing B.Scott's system. And the short term deal. I would have to say this might be a solid signing by the Hornets, nothing special but solid.

I still dont know why teams are interested in signing Rogers to play in their every game rotation. But the guy when hot has an excellent shooting stroke. And having a bigbody who can stretch the D, can cause matchup problems, the problem is he rarely gets hot anymore. And when he isnt shooting the ball well he isnt doing anything else.

This is a great addition for the Hornets. Rodney Rogers played for Byron Scott in New Jersey. Now they are together again. I'm sure Rodney came to the Hornets because of Byron Scott being the coach.

yeah i like this addition too...gives New Orleans size, strength and shooting ability...if he reports to camp in good shape, he'll be a nice fit for them...
