Per team policy, terms of the contract were not released. In order to make room for Smith on the roster, the team waived forward Kirk Haston. Haston averaged 1.2 points and 1.0 rebounds in 27 games for the Hornets over the last two seasons. Smith, a 12-year NBA veteran, holds career averages of 15.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 821 games. The former All-Star also boasts career shooting percentages of .441 (4,388-9,944) from the field, .355 (1,064-2,996) from three-point range and .843 (2,918-3,462) from the free throw line. Last season, Smith averaged 6.8 points in 53 games to help the San Antonio Spurs win the NBA championship. </div> Great to see Smitty get signed up by a team a class act
Good pick up for the Hornets. Gives them a true outside threat and a good all around scorer in general. Too bad they still don't know what a good coach is.....
Floyd's a good coach if he has a good roster - he's no good at developing players tho which is why he failed in Chicago. Then again, he's not on Silas' level If Smitty's knees hold up he'll be a good signing, I think NO could be very dangerous is Mash and B-Diddy stay healthy.
But, in order to be a good coach, I think you need to be able to win with developing players. But, than again, I contradict myself when I say that Phil Jackson is the greatest coach in NBA history cause he's never really had to develop players. But, he's done a good job with people like Devean George. But, another thing is Phil is great with chemistry. Floyd, yea, Chicago had no chemistry under him. He better be able to win in NO cause he did step into a good situation. If he can't win and get them to the playoffs in their final year with the east, he can kiss his job good bye cause if he can't do it in the East ain't no way that he's gonna do it next year in the West.
Completely agree, I think Floyd is under more pressure then it seems, considering Silas got the sack cos he was consistently making the playoffs, but wasn't making any inroads towards winning the East..
As long as hes not back in Atl My poor hawks.. They go out and give all their money to have a backcourt of terry glover and jackson.. tell me that doesnt put fear in peoples heart Oh well at least we have vick.. ****!! nevermind

It might have been nice if the Spurs coulda gotten Campbell for Smith though..
