As part of our downsizing process, we've decided to clean our own home. Just bought a Roomba on a deal. Anyone have/use one of these, or similar? We now have a single-level home, so are hoping for the best here.

Naturally, one of the nice things about Amazon is easy returns if you don't like the particular prodect.

Yep I have the roomba 9+ with clean base and the roomba mopper. Had both for about two years and got them when I took over most of the house work responsiblities. They are both pretty great, currently in Europe and my wife is home and I can still vacuum the house. I have it on a schedule of twice a week and get notified when when its done, but I can log into the app and start it whenever I want. From time to time it gets stuck or hung up on something but its an easy fix and I can just text my step son to go check it out, if I am not home. The model you have is decent I think, but you really need the clean base to fully automate the process.

Thanks for the insights! Yeah, we talked about the clean base. We laughed when reading that these things even pick up dog crap (which isn't an issue for us.)

I think they have a dog crap guarantee or something. I have two dogs and it does well with their hair, luckily no crap incidents yet. My one dog likes to drink way to much water then barf it up on the floor. The roomba has hit that a few times and then requires a clean out. The mopper is really nice if you have hardwood floors also but not a must have, I generally run it once a week.

OK, so we have LVP floors throughout (with scattered rugs), so that mopping deature does seem nice!

it works around scattered rugs really well. It will map your floors and you can set up exclusion zones for areas it has problems with. You can also label rooms or divide a big room up into zones. Then do it all or just the high traffic areas. Same with the higher end vacuums. So for instance you can just do the kitchen after dinner if you want, or the set it up to do the main traffic areas daily or every other day, then the rest of the house weekly.

just googled it and its pretty good. No clean map feature though, which I like. It will probably do just fine though, but if you can spring for the i7 it would be a good upgrade. This link might help you decide if the extra features are worth it for you.

If you have pets they don't work well. I have a couple dogs. They have rendered it useless.
My wife has a cat. I do not own a cat.

Both of our dogs are hypoallergenic and don't shed. Hoping that makes a difference.

Ours works fine with our pets and pet hair. One dog sheds like you wouldn't believe. I do have to clean it and change the filters often tho, but not a big deal. Also I run it pretty regularly, I notice that if I don't then there will be to much hair built up and it can clog up and block the sensors sometimes. If you set it to run on a schedule tho it can literally vacuum your house every day, which keeps the hair to a minimum and keeps the machine from clogging up.

My wife just informed me that we have to stick with the 694 model and see how much dirt/hair it holds. We shall see.

You'll probably be happy with it. You just have to manually start it and empty it every time. With hypoallergenic dogs your probably ok. My sister has a hypoallergenic dog and she replaces the base clean bag once every 6 months. My dogs fill it in less than a month.

We have hardwood floors and it just gets full way too fast. To me it's just easier to sweep the floor. Roomba seems to be nothing but a big hassle and a gadget that works only fairly well at best. Most of the time it can't find it's way back to base anyway and usually just gets stuck somewhere.

Lol, not my experience at all but fair enough. My wife leaves the phone charger cable on the floor to much and it wraps up in that, sometimes it snags my shoe lace if I leave them out. Gotta preclean or make sure things are picked up first. As far as full too fast, I recommend just running it more, I do it daily in the spring time because of dog hair.
