<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">FOR obvious reasons, Tracy McGrady has narrowed his choices to play next season - or the following one, at the latest, should the Magic unfathomably fail to arrange a trade - to four teams, all of whom flaunt a centrifugal force. According to a confidant of the rundown compulsive scorer, he has targeted the Suns, Rockets, Spurs and Lakers, but won't officially alert Orlando management of his decision to opt out of his contract at the end of 2004-05 until after The Finals. As previously reported, the Suns would be prepared to swap Shawn Marion for McGrady, whereas the Rockets, the source claims, almost assuredly would give up Steve Francis. While neither All-Star provides equivalent oomph, both deals - if the odds were evened up a tad - can't help but tempt the leveraged Magic, because both Francis and Marion are locked up for five more seasons. The white bread, no-crust franchise already has lost one too many irreplaceable heirlooms (Shaq) minus any reimbursement; owner Rich DeVos can't and won't let it happen again. </div> Link I haven't thought of this, but Francis for McGrady straight off? Damn, we'd benefit so much from that, but I'd like it more if it were Kelvin Cato, Nachbar and Francis for McGrady, Gooden and Reece Gaines. The point guard position would seriously have to be thought of if this trade were to happen. TMac can't be our starter at PG.
That would be a crazy trade, but I think Houston would hav eto give more. McGrady is much better than Francis.
As the article said, there is actually a possiblity on Francis for McGrady straight up. Francis has a long-term contract and the Magic admins would love it, since most of their FA's leave them.
Yeah, Francis straight up for McGrady would be a lil uneven for Orlando...I think that Francis/Mo T/JJ for McGrady/T. Lue/J. Howard works out more, i think...
In a straight up trade, Houston would be left with a huge hole at PG. Mark Jackson wont stay around forever, and Mike Wilks is nothing special. They also don't have a first round pick and would have to rely on the offseason to get a PG. Although Houston would get the better deal, in the long term this trade could cause a lot of problems. Orlando would get the PG the desperately need, but it wont be the answer to all of their problems even with Emeka Okafor. They would still be without a C, and would lose a lot of scoring with T-Mac gone.
Straight up?? You gotta do that, McGrady is better than Francis and if he becomes a true team player and leader Houston could have an elite team with McGrady, Yao and 3 average players. It's still a risk though, if McGrady continues on his current path his talent won't ever make a difference and we'll be left with an under achieving team.
If Francis does go, I think Jim Jackson could play PG and T-Mac play SF. The rotation would basically remain the same, but we do need at least a Darrick Martin type of backup for Jackson.
Actually, why not? He is a point forward under JVG, somewhat the role Scottie Pippen took on. In Portland, Scottie Pippen converted to a PG in his later years. Why can't Jackson do the same? To me, he has the court vision needed to excel at the point guard position.
He's not a point foward, all he did and did well at times, is give the ball to Yao in the post, I don't think he ever set up anybody else. He did instead of Francis because he's a more dangerous 3 point shooter, he did it instead of Mobley because Mobley's one of the worst passing SG's in the league. What makes you think he has this court vision? His assist to turnover ratio is probably as bad as Cutino Mobely's, and the only vision he has right now is towards the basket. Pippen could do it because he's always had those skills and because he was good enough on defense to keep up with most PG's, there's really no comparing the two.
Actually, Jim Jackson played Point for many of his years, I know in cleveland he played Point guard. He can score, and hes a lot bigger than some, and hes not slow at all. But would Tmac wanna play SF? He too, has played PG in Toronto. We could deal MOBLEY, and some other dudes, free up some Cap space. Man, Mobley needs to mature a lot more, ppl keep talkin about Francis, but man, Mobley can annoy me sometimes.
I'm fine with Mobley's production, but I do get annoyed when he scores 20 points in the first half and doesn't take a shot in the second. His three's are also streaky and his defense is not great, although he did show improvement against Kobe in the playoffs.
I'm with you magno. Mobley learned how to play like Francis over the years I think. He often takes it to the basket, which is not a wise choice at all because he's not as athletic as Francis is, not nearly as good in creating, and he's their best spot up shooter.. If he gets nowhere, he kicks it out to people that are worse shooters than he is.. that's just silly.
I don't think a Francis for Mcgrady deal is likely just yet and straight up it is not possible under the cap. Right now Francis is in the 1st year of a BYC, making him almost impossible to trade for another player with a big contract. He will be far more tradeable once he is officially in the 2nd year of his BYC. He would also be emminently more tradeable if he signed his deal after July 1st. If he signed it before then, he will be easier to trade for equal value exactly 1 year after he signed...Anyone know the date? Regardless, the deal would probably need a third team unless the Magic are willing to give up one of the league's top 5 players and take on the mortifying contracts of either Kelving Cato or Maurice Taylor.....It is possible they would take Cato's but I can't come up with such a package that would appeal to the Magic.
Houston might say yes to McGrady, but will Orlando say yes to Francis? Unless the Rockets throw in some cash, future draft selections, or another player - it's a one-sided deal. McGrady is a much better player than Francis, and the trade won't happen unless theres more to it. But McGrady for Francis straight up? - Hell no.
This Trade Would Be Straight up Good For THE ROCKETS WE MIGHT MAKE IT TO FINALS. ANYWAYS I DONT THINK FRANCIS FOR MAC WOULD BE COOL MAYBE TRADING SOMETHING LIKE NACHBAR MOBLEY AND CATO FOR MAC AND TRADE SOMEBODY ELSE FOR GRANT HILL

We dont have to trade Francis.. A 3 team deal, a 4 team deal, anything with multiple teams would allow us to have more of a say in what we wanna do.. But yes, I think Francis is gonna have to go if Tmac comes to town. We have to keep Nachbar, he is an amazing player, all he needs is time (playing time) and a little adjustment.. Cato and Taylor make waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much money.. we can trade both of them, sign someone else. I wanna see Hinrich here in Houston.. maybe Francis and Cato for McGrady, Mobley and Taylor for Hinrich and Chandler? Sign Mcdyess and have Chandler as a reserve.. Yao, Mcdyess, J. Jackson, Tmac, Hinrich? that doesnt look to bad.. Grant Hill is recovering from his 4th surgery.. I dont think he'll help the Rockets, or Magic, at all, but i was always a fan of his, and I'd like to see him put up 15 and 8, or something like that. I think McGrady is like Kobe in the sense that they both can defend well, they just have to have the challenge awaiting them..
What about getting Fisher. Sure he won't wow you like Francis but he knows how to play with a big man. Francis could be traded to Orlando, Clippertown, or Cleveland Get this What about Francis for Illgauskus OR Carlos Boozer. Cavs already got boom boom and Diop so I think big Z is for sale. Then Cato or Illgaskus or Boozer would have good trade value if you decide to keep one or the other. I think the Rockets would succeed if they had a guy like Boozer. But if you can't get him, Big Z would be nice as a backup and he comes off the books so you can re-sign the needed players. Just a thought. Bruce Bowen would be nice a pickup at G/F and Van Gundy would be all over him. At shooting guard maybe get Jiri Welsch. Boston has enough guards already. Now the only thing left to do is get a good solid veteran bench that can fill in the holes wherever there is mismatches. Maybe get Walter McCarty to play a variety of positions, A solid defensive backup point, and draft 2nd round point or Mo-Ke if he falls that far. Mo-ke is pretty aggressive and will throw elbows to prevent people from beating up on Yao and plus Yao will have a national team buddy.
Like the Flancis in the Chinese many people The person who have do not hope he walk! The person who have hopes him to walk! I like him still very I also hope the T- MAC comes www.yaoming.net
