"how about making a run at Golden State's Mickael Pietrus to play with Hinrich?" <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">What about Bulls? Yes, the Bulls. I'm working on that too. So here's the deal. There have been rumors the Bulls want to make a run at the Kings' Peja Stojakovic, a free agent after this season. Stojakovic is a good shooter, which the Bulls need, but he'll be 29 next season. That's not a good age to be giving a shooter a long-term deal. The Bulls need post play and a big defensive guard. One GM said he has heard the Bulls remain interested in Atlanta's Al Harrington, a post-up frontcourt player who also can rebound. He was the player the Bulls tried to get by trading for Phoenix's No. 1 draft pick in 2004. But the Pacers pulled back on the deal and the Bulls selected Luol Deng. Harrington is with the hopeless Hawks and says he'll leave as a free agent after this season. Atlanta needs a point guard, given that Tyron Lue plays there now. So how about Chris Duhon and an expiring contract, like Eric Piatkowski's? Otherwise, the Hawks could lose Harrington for nothing. And Kirk Hinrich could return to his natural position, point guard. In the other part of the deal, how about making a run at Golden State's Mickael Pietrus to play with Hinrich? It would cost the Warriors a fortune in luxury tax to re-sign Pietrus after they re-signed Mike Dunleavy. The Bulls looked hard at Pietrus before drafting Hinrich, and he's the kind of big, defensive shooting guard they need. Certainly, either the Bulls' or Knicks' No. 1 picks the Bulls own will be in the lottery. Wouldn't one help the Warriors' pursuit for a big man with another expiring contract thrown in? It's after this that Steed and Mrs. Peel usually clink champagne glasses. Where's John Paxson? What vintage does he have around?</div> http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...ack=1&cset=true
i don't get y they would give up duhon for Al if they can just sign him as a free agent this offseason, pietrus is interesting, it will depend a lot on how he does this season, how much he will want, and what other free agents the bulls have a serious chance of getting, most notably bing men
I hope we dont let Pietrus go for nothing. This is not like Eric Dampier we are talking about here. We are talking about a young, long, athletic shooting guard who plays excellent perimeter defense, takes it to the hole hard and can shoot the 3 well. He is going to be a solid player in this league. We should at least sign and trade him if we are going to let him go. I hope Mullin does not let this guy walk while he signed Dunothing to a large contract. That will make me lose almost all confidence in him as a GM...
It's all up to Cohan now and how far he's willing to go. babybulls, we'd have Pietrus' bird rights. So Bulls or other teams would have to pay more than what we can match and also fight other teams to sign him.
It all comes down to what deal is on the table. I DO really like Duke's Sheldon Williams. If he was available at the Knicks slot, that NY pick and whatever filler would be real tempting. Even then,we'd still be looking for a follow-up. Murphy would need to be the main C,with ike and Williams at PF for the power factor. We then would be shopping Dun,Fish, and a C to get an upgrade at SF, Likely Biedrens or Taft, due to their budget friendly deals would be in a package. It is a possible scenario, and not my first choice. I'd tend to think MP is going to keep getting better. I'm sure the W's will troll the pond for a really good deal for almost anyone we have-but won't want to get the shaft based on the money end. IF THIS CREW DOES NOTJELL....if we at the end of the 06-07 season are no more than a borderline playoff team, then it may be when the $ get tight. If this group can keep rising,be a legit threat to win it all,I don't see the Lux-tax as a barrier. If it WAS going to be a big obstacle,Mully would definitely waited on the Dunleavy deal. Time will tell. Pietrus, injured now, already was getting equal mins, and more late mins than Dun. He's in our plans for the very reason many teams like the Bulls covet him. There is some illusion that we are in some Arenas type jam and will be forced to give Pietrus up for a pile of scrap....no way

Fisher's is pretty bad, but there's more intangibles to his game and he's been having somewhat of a career year. Well the verdict is still out on Dunleavy, but c'mon the guy couldn't even live up to what he was being paid as a rookie, so I'm guessing that the new contract wouldn't even work if he gave the whole team backrubs and foot massages as intangibles. I just don't think Mullin would ever trade Dunleavy, I mean look how soon he just signed him up without proving his worth. It's like Mullin opened up all his gifts before Christmas Day because he just couldn't wait. I think for Dun and Fish to be offered in the same package along with promising, but marginal rookie player(s), Mullin would have to offer his first born as part of that deal. I don't think Dunleavy counts because he's probably Barnett's first born son.
