We talk of trading Hughes and Joba but how about Warren? Right now I don't think they can trade Hughes because he has been their second best pitcher. I would only trade him if they got a really good deal from some team desperate for pitching. Say the Giants?
I think a trade of Warren and Joba or Warren and a minor league player could net a decent offensive player no? If they get Soriano he should just be a start not the end. He will not solve all the problems. To me they need platoon RH 1st baseman, New DH and catching help to start.
...I think Soriano will be a platoon DH with a few innings sprinkled in playing the OF, IF the deal is made. ...I'd still like to have McCann, but to be honest, I think Stewart has not been that bad. No, he's no slugger but he makes contact and he has been very good defensively.
McCann would be awesome I think. I also brought about Carlos Pena who was dfa. I know he is a lefty but this team needs some power hitters. Any other RH first baseman out there that can be had at the deadline? Also really like Ruiz from the Phillies if they become sellers.
I'm ready to sign a petition to get McCann here asap. Stewart has been ok and would be a great backup, but that's about it. Hudson appears to be done for the year, a pretty good opportunity there. Warren and Logan (maybe another minor piece but not more for a impending FA)?
...because nothing is a sure thing until it's actually done...and because Soriano has asked for time to think it over...and because the Cubs may want more than the Yanx are willing to give...You don't recall any deals that blew up at the last minute?
...oh, I believe the deal will get done. But if it does blow up for some reason, it won't be a huge loss. At this point I tend to think that the Cubs want the deal to happen a little more than the Yanx. ...if Cashman takes it in ass again, yb will have a field day.
I think both of those guys are valuable chips, not sure I'd send them both off in the same deal. Hughes for Mccann straight up would be close to even. Hughes could be a solid #2 in Atlanta. Funny thing is he's a solid #2 for the Yanks zing
I'm sure the Braves are looking to get something for McCann while they still can. Rather then just lose him to Fa. So yeah I think Huges straight up would work.
Cashman always takes it in the ass 59. He spends 20 hours a day in the downward doggie position waiting for it. I just hope he can pull off a few trades for some useful offensive talent in the next few days and not get totally raped in the process.
I have every confidence that Cashman will do something sooner than later that will warrant a good rogering reference. 5-4-3-2-1....
