Stats can only tell so much. I became fans of Chucky, Mihm, and Jumaine while they played for Boston, and I've been curious as to what the Laker fans think of them. I'll start by giving my opinion of the way they played for the Celtics, so that you guys can compare it to the way they play now. Chucky Atkins- When we first got Chucky last year, the offense had a big turnaround. He was instrumental in the C's ending a 10+ game losing streak and making it possible for them to make the playoffs. He was a decent fast break point guard, and he was pretty good finding guys for open shots. His major problem seemed to be defensively where it seemed like most point guards had their way with him. Chris Mihm- He showed flashes of brilliance. He could come in and dominate on the glass, score from the post, and play solid D. Then, for minutes, quarters, even games, he just disappeared and wasn't a factor. He also had a huge problem with getting into foul trouble early. He took himself out of so many games by picking up 2 or 3 quick fouls. Oh yeah, he also would have averaged 4 or more PPG last year if he used two hands to dunk. He got stuffed at the rim so many times last year. Jumaine Jones- He actually didn't see much time on the floor last year, and when he did he usually was at the 4. I remember he had this weird looking high arc shot, and it seemed like it took 20 minutes to make it to the basket. Jumaine probably would have been the starter at the 3 spot if he didn't get injured early last season. I liked what I saw from him, and I thought he was a nice player.
Jumaine Jones is a keeper, actually. I like his defense, his ability to hit the three, and his all-around game. He can rip boards away from guys like Duncan and Amare...and I like that. Chris Mihm was nice to have on the floor for a while, but I'm beginning to dislike his inability to rebound. I don't understand it, really...but all he can do is block guys, foul, or hit a wide-open hook shot. Other than that, sure...his numbers improved, but that doesn't make him a valuable player at this time. I don't have much to say about Chucky Atkins. He's trash.

I really want to get Baron Davis in L.A.

To be honest, I would have much rather you guys got the original 3 players: Mihm, Atkins, and Banks. He's a good guy to put out there at the 4 when you're using a small lineup. He's very versatile, and IMO much more valuable than Marcus Banks. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Other than that, sure...his numbers improved, but that doesn't make him a valuable player at this time. </div>Yeah, based on your description it sounds like the exact same guy that left here. As far as rebounding, the guy doesn't box out. He tries to get into jumping contests, which is so unfundamentally sound that its disgusting. The improved numbers is most definitely related to a higher amount of minutes. Mark Blount really stepped it up late last year, and Mihm found himself spending a lot of time on the bench. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I don't have much to say about Chucky Atkins. He's trash.</div>Wow! You have to expand on that, because I'd like to know what you feel his problems are. I admit he's no Jason Kidd, but he was an above average PG in my opinion.
Atkins is good for a 3 point shot here and there, other than that..get him out of a Laker uniform... Mihm was great at the beginning but like Real Deal said, his inept ability to rebound has drove me, and probably most Laker fans to the edge of craziness, I would rather see Vlade and Slava play right now. Jumaine is turning out to be the best player in the deal, I am loving him, he is hitting big shots and looking great. He will start some games in this year if Caron keeps playing inconsistent like he is.
I'll elaborate on Atkins... He can't pass, doesn't have a consistent shot, no defense whatsoever, not a playmaker, etc. He's trash. So is Tierre. I'm ready for Rudy T to swap Atkins/Tierre for Bobbitt/Vujacic, honestly...
Mihm looks like he has great potiential (how long have the celts been saying that) but he isn't staying on the floor enough and isn't displaying the consistency we need to see from a starter... Jumaine Jones is playing up to his potiential, which is nice.. Atkins is playing up to his potiential as well....he's not doing great, but no one ever said he was going to be a great player... Overall, I'm satisfied. No one is playing below expections really, considering I didn't have really high expectations (right after the trade) for any of these players anyway...However, after preseason, I did have high expectations for Mihm, and I'm a bit disappointed in him, but he's definietly a keeper...
