I hear ya...a top 3 pick could put us over the top. Our guys make a lot of mistakes, and in the last two games they've gotten away with them due to shear determination and force of will (and deadly shooting from our guards). I don't think that's sustainable over the course of an entire season once other teams gel and get a rhythm, but maybe the Blazers will cut down on those mistakes too. It's shaping up to be a wild ride.
A top 3 pick was never in the cards, regardless of dumbass national prognosticators predictions. Only a top 6 or so pick would get us a rotation player - that isn't going to happen either. Get over it.
The tough games are yet to come. I know people are pumped, and the team is fun to watch, but we haven't played any of the top teams. I think we're going to struggle against the veteran teams. The Suns gave us fits. Of course, the refs didn't help either, but that's going to be expected against the good teams as well.
This team has a lot of latent talent; I still think there is a great deal of NBA scouting and scheming looming on the horizon that will cause the other shoe to drop on this season, but thus far they've been pleasantly spunky. It beats the hell out of gloomy foregone conclusions and self-fulfilling prophecies. This team has no memory. "ANDY: You know what the Mexicans say about the Pacific? RED: No. ANDY: They say it has no memory. That's where I want to live the rest of my life. A warm place with no memory."
Yes the unforced turnover need to get better if you want to beat good teams. At least some of those TO's are an attempt to run or attack the basket as opposed to the lazy perimeter passes that drive me crazy. But yeah hopefully they will cut down on them. I think they can and will with more familiarity.
You don't have to tank to get a top pick. You can trade for one. I say we try to win all the games we can, then deal with the situation when the time comes.
Best answer so far! I think purposely "tanking" is a losing effort and instills bad work ethic. It's much better to always play to win each and every night, including management, coaching staff and players.
See I was thinking the opposite. Im seeing us beating teams while being szloppy, but the sloppiness is from lack of experience and having a team that knows each other. Give it time, the sloppiness gets cleaned up and we might be a team that can beat any team on any given night. Yes we will still lose, but no one will want to play us I think towards the end of the season. We are young. We arent gonna tire. Dame will be fine because players like Aminu are surfacing to take the weight off. Wish I could ad Fans to the end of your list there mags... Absolutely right. The ones that think we should tank have probably never had to deal with a situation in a work environment where moral is lacking. Tanking is quitting. This is SPORTS PEOPLE!!! There's no quitting in sports like there's no crying in baseball!!!!!!!
I love the enthusiasm, but we haven't played a real playoff contender yet. We played the Pelicans without Tyreke Evans, and that is not a playoff-caliber team without him. Tonight we MIGHT get a decent gauge of what this team can do. I still think over the long haul there's too much youth and not enough guys capable of creating their own offense, too many issues with turnover and free throw shooting to beat truly good teams, and we're going to end up losing to some mediocre or bad teams for the same reason ... we essentially need Dame and CJ to combine for close to 50 every night just to have a chance to win.
