I’m not sure how many of you watch baseball outside of the Mariners. But crazy how quietly Salvador Perez has become one of the greatest catchers of all time but no one ever talks about it.
Wood-Rich had a 1 hitter through 6. Only caught the tail end of the game. Must have been wicked pitching. The Twins closers were lights out.
They have two closers yeah lol. Have won 13 out of their last 14. We catching them at the wrong time. Earlier they were 7-13.
Speaking of closers (I know this is a Mariners thread but I can't help myself)... I'm fascinated by the career saves race between Craig Kimbrell and Kenley Jansen. Two all-time greats with parallel careers. When all is said and done they'll finish 3-4 all-time (doubtful either passes Hoffman), and I don't see anyone in the majors with much chance of joining them at the top of that list. Maybe Clase, a decade from now, if he doesn't suffer setbacks like Edwin Diaz did after Seattle sent him to the Mets (see...brought it back to Mariners relevance!).
Sota's setup guy hit 101.. on the corner. The broadcasting booth just froze, so did the batter. Didn't even get a "nice fastball" comment from Blowers. Then their actual closer spins up Jamie Moyer hammers at 75mph. That's some yin-yang pitching, the Twins look sharp.
this 4 game set is a good test for the warming up Mariners. Get some knocks, take the lead, and the Twins bullpen can't do squat.
The mariners bullpen took a giant dump all over Cals grand slam. I am so fucking tired of cheap owners of sports teams.
Twins are toast today. They had their chance with Hancock leaving hangers over the plate. Kirby's backdoor 2-seamers are going to wreck Minnesota
I bailed after the M's went up 6-5. Fun roller coaster up until then. I figured that should do it, good work Seattle. So i missed that Twins rally, and the Cal GS. Pinch hit shots usually don't make it to the 3rd deck. Raleigh punished that ball.
they never showed how a flare shot over 1st base turned into a stand up RBI triple. I guess it don't matter, Cody Bolton looked like Spongebob on the mound.
Seems Mariners are on pace to set record for most strikeouts, and not the good kind of K's either. You can't expect to be great if you aren't willing to pony up some cash to sign guys that can at least make contact with the ball.
