I watched last season's Superbowl and it got me interested. I'm not sure who to root for, though. I did cheer for the Giants. I hear Favre is the shit. Pats have plenty of fans. Umm...so yeah.

So you're in the NY area? You won't be able to follow other teams that closely unless you have DirecTV's Sunday ticket thing anyway. You said it yourself, keep rooting for the Giants/Jets.
Agreed. Go with a team nearby, as more people could talk more football. I'd go with the Jets. They could be a fun team this year.
I'm a Titans fan living in New Jersey. It makes no sense, but it's worked for me since they first changed their name to the Titans.
Watch as much football as possible and then decide what you're into. I've just always liked the Bucs because they are the hometown team but if you're not sold on the Jets or Giants check out how different teams are set up and see what you like. If you're into the running game, look at San Diego, Minnesota, Kansas City, etc. If you're into the passing game, check out the Colts, Cowboys, Patriots, or Bengals. If you're into defense, take a look at San Diego, Chicago, Tampa Bay. Just find out what you're interested in and then pick a team based on their style or players.

I choose to follow the teams I like based on similar ideas.
