http://www.82games.com/feeders0506.htm This is really just some incredible statistics that where compiled by 82games.com it shows just how much Chris Paul has affected this team with his passing ability. Just a quick recap on where the Hornets came in on this. First stat that was talked about was top passer-scorer combo?s in the league. The duo of Paul and David West, Paul passing with West scoring, combined for 171 field goals made this season. Good enough to put them as the ninth highest ?passer-scorer combo? in the league. Then they talked about ?leading Combined Assisted FG Combos? where again the duo of Paul and West made another appearance combining for 187 field goals made, and ranking in at 15th one spot behind Billups and Rasheed Wallace. Now to show you just how reliant West is on Paul to set him up the next category is.... ?Players most reliant on one teammate for assisted FGM's? Paul was credited with an assist for half the baskets made by David West that?s simple crazy. Paul was also responsible for about 36% from the field goals made by PJ Brown. The affect this player had on this team is simple incredible, I?m sure a lot of people already know that, but I just thought I would post this for the people around the internet that I have heard say Paul?s rookie season was not as big as it is being made out to be. That the only reason he is getting so much hype is because the rest of the class has not really stood out. Well the statistics speak for themselves.
im just amazed at the potential chris paul has. i mean, this is just his rookie season and the guy is already a leader and one of the best point guards in the game. one can only imagine how he will be like 3 or 4 years from now
Well, he did mostly dish it to David West because he is the main scorer. But, he had a great season. And will have more. Dam, Nash is up there with 3 different players.
Chris is player whose immediate impact was so obvious we didn't need stats to counter pundits from other parts of the country who are homers for their favorite college's player ( i.e. Felton) or team's player (i.e. Villanueva). The biggest farce are the Jazz fans who claim Deron Williams got the best of Chris Paul in head to head match ups. First, Deron wasn't even starting until February. Second, they were not playing one on one. Utah is an experienced talented team with several great players who won the games New Orleans would have won had they been healthy. It's eay to forget what happened during a season. NO was a confident juggernaut because of Chris Paul, but his teammates changed weekly due to injury and then Paul was out with a thumb ligament at the peak of his season. Remember, the NO team except for Paul and West (who missed 4 games in a crucial stretch) followed by Paul missing several games, Vroman a first rounder smashing hs wrist, J. R. Smith, a first rounder crashing into the doghouse, leading to NO having to assimilate 3 new front line players cast off from other teams, and still just missed the playoffs. They'd be in it if they weren't a Southwest Division Team. The Utah- Hornets games were played when the Hornets were hurt and trying to rebuild while Utah was playing their best ball. Paul is the point guard with poise, strength of character, a sure long ball, a pass first mentality which made alot of pundits back during the Summer look ridiculous, and toughness and desire to win on a par with Thomas, Johnson and Bird. The Hornets should build around Paul in the fashion of the Spurs and the new Mavs. The Hornets were one of the best defensive teams ths year (Paul had 3.5 assists to 1 TO, league best)(Paul was 3rd in the whole NBA in steals) and should continue to make defense a priority with help at shooting guard since J. R. Smith is not going to bring his all to the defense.
