I was wondering how you guys got into basketball.I got into it in 2004. I had never watched any basketball games or anything but the Pacers were winning (they got 62 wins) so all of Indianapolis started talking about them. So, I finally decided to watch a Pacer's game and it was love at first sight. Now I try to watch any basketball I can.
I think for me it was at a young age. I had a mini basketball hoop and always played on it but I was more into baseball at that age. With Little League, going to the ball games. It was about 98 or 99 I started watching basketball and started to play basketball in pickup games and the sorts. Transistioning from baseball to basketball.
Id always liked playing basketball, I really got into trying to get better and playing hard etc. when I was about 8, thats when my brother started playing alot...so I did too. I always watched Memphis Tiger games, and of course Grizzly games when they moved here. But it wasnt until the 2005 Finals with the Pistons-Spurs that I became a hardcore fan of it.....what a series to introduce you to NBA.....
I watched Michael Jordan when I was little because my parents did, and I messed around with the basketball and stuff when I was little. But it wasn't until I was almost 14 that I really got into basketball. I moved to Iowa and I didn't know anyone. This kid would come and get me everyday after school to play basketball until about five, I sucked real bad considering I never really played, but I didn't have any friends or anything, so I went with him everyday. We didn't just play, he taught me about the game and we worked at getting better, not just messing around. Eventually I started to really like playing. When we moved back to a different area in Ohio that next year, I played basketball all of the time. Since I hadn't ever had my own hoop really, I would have to go to different parks. I have played pretty much everyday since then and I love learning about the game.
I first liked baseball the most. From like....when I was little to around 4th/5th grade, when I started shooting my basketball around and stuff. 6th grade I started playing basketball everyday at recess. Haven't become that great though.
I played baseball most of life. I then started to play basketball in like...4th grade just because my friend went to this little camp thing after school and he wanted me to go too. But I sucked...then I played on a little city league team in 5th grade...6th grade...I sucked both of those years too. Like I thought I was good...but I wasn't good at all. Then in seventh grade...it was the first year for me to be able to try out for the school team. I did alright in try outs, but I didn't make the team. After that, I started to work really hard and I eventually got to be a decent player. Eigth grade, I made the team and also was MIP. Eigth grade is really when I got into basketball.
I'm not really that huge of a basketball fan, but it was in the 2001 playoffs when the Wings were my life. I was flipping around during a Red Wings playoff game and I saw the Pistons and watched them for a while. Next year I watched most of the season and all of the playoffs. After the lockout, I stopped watching Hockey all together and was obsessed with the Pistons. Now I'm starting to lose interest in the NBA. Baseball seems like the only sport I can stay with.
I started to watch some basketball when I was in the 6th grade, but I only watched a game like once every month and I really knew nothing about it. Next year, I started to become a pretty serious fan, but I still knew nothing about it until last year (grade 8).As for playing basketball, I didnt play in a League until 7th grade. Before that I was more into soccer, baseball, and badminton.
I've always loved basketball from birth. My mom was really into the suns in 92-93 when they went to the finals and the 93-94 season was when my family was consistantly watching games. I was born in the off-season and started watching the Suns at 3-4 months old. I first picked up a ball at 1-and-a-half and I made my first ten foot shot a year later. I started playing in a league at 3-and-a-half years.

Yeah, I have. I just started analyzing the gaems I was watching, and looking at things more closely, and of course being on here helped a ton.
I have always loved to play basketball, and I have always been a big Spurs fan. So as I got older, and I started to watch more Spurs, I started to get more interested in other teams and just got hooked.
I first started watching basketball at a young age but never really understood it. My uncles and grandpa would be watching games with Jordan and that I remember. I started to play the sport in about 2nd grade.. got my first hoop and ball. I got into watching at around 2003.. thats like when yao ming came... coincidentally.
This and football were the only sports my dad was interested in and since the Suns had some sort of success unlike the Cardinals, I was taught to like it really early. I had a small hoop in my room at 4 years old and have played and watched as far back as I can remember.
