I am pretty sure with our current team we can make the playoffs with a seed any were from 1 to 5. Then I belive we could easily get past the first round of the playoffs pending who we face. It will be though to win the east with our current team though since the pistons stayed with there championship team and the heat have shaq. Though I think if we then face the heat in the second round we could beat them because there team even with shaq was killed and drained of talent this off season. Odam, butler, grant, and skip all gone.

How far you think the team can get with our current roster. Do you think they will make the playoffs and how far will they go if they do? Im gona say possible eastern conference matchup with the pistons depending who is there come playoff time.

I really don't know yet, and I still think it's too early to tell.

With the current roster, theres too many questions still up in the air.

We are facing the risk of team chemistry - the same problem we faced last year. Francis, Cato, and Mobley already have the chemistry, but what about the rest of the team? We're rebuilding yet again, meaning a brand new roster. Too many changes too quickly could be a very bad thing.

Will Dwight Howard produce? Will we throw him with the wolves and make him start immediately?

How will Drew Gooden produce alongside Dwight? Will we trade him?

Best case senero - We make the playoffs, and Grant Hill retires [IMG] . I won't make predictions on our bracket standings, because the rest of the east is so weak that we could slide up there by pure luck.

Worst case senero is missing the playoffs. And having Grant Hill come back after successfully playing 21 games to return and miss the entire next season. Then believing he can make another 'comeback' the following season. And we resign him to another max deal.. [IMG] (Ok, I'll stop)

It's really too early for me to predict but here goes nothing

With our current roster we could go far. I definently see us going to the playoffs, depending on our bracket would be we could make it to the eastern coference finals, but you never know.

Ice made some great points about the team chemistry. So far I think the team is getting along great. Everyone has said they've like being on the Magic or was happy about coming here, so I don't feel that as a huge threat.

The thing about Dwight being ready to start was brung up once before and I've been questioning myself about this issue to see what would bring the better outcome. I say start Dwight a couple of games and see how he performs during these season games. If he does well and stays pretty consistant with his game both offensively and defensively. But if he slips up a couple of games I say start Gooden. This is if we don't trade poor Drew [IMG]

As far as Grant Hill is concerned. Only time will tell.

here are the playoff predications for next year:

    1) Detriot Pistons
    2) Indiana Pacers
    3) Miami Heat
    4) Milwaukee Bucks
    5) Orlando Magic
6)New York(if they get Dampier the move ahead of the bucks)
    7) Philly 76ers
    8) Washington Wiz

Team comin close: New Jersey and Cleveland will have to wait another year

I put orlando at five only because im not sure how the chemistry is going to work out. They could be anywhere from 1-8 probably. I think five is just right.

Yea, we can easilty make the playoffs IMO.

The Knicks? They're awful. With or without Dampier. IN fact, after the Top 4 teams the East is pretty awful. Philly would be the only decent team left.

Honestly, I'd be shocked if the Magic didn't make the playoffs.

If the Magic didn't make the playoffs, I wouldn't really be disappointed seeing how much stuff is going to be going on the side this season. There are still a lot of question marks on this team, not really with the roster, but with other stuff. Let's keep in mind the following:

    1. This is Weisbrod's first year as GM, things might not go so smoothly as he has very high expectations for this team, and rightfully so. Still though, he is a new GM and so far he has done a good job, but it's worth mentioning.
    2. Dwight Howard...can he contribute right away or is he going to take awhile to develop? No one can say anything either way at this point as all we have to base a guess off of is the summer league and that isn't much to use in the way of evidence. No matter what though, there is going to be a lot of pressure on him to perform, being the #1 overall selection mandates that.
    3. Can the new players mesh well together? A lot of these guys may have played with each other before, but last time I checked, there are only 5 guys on the roster this year that suited up for the Magic last year and that number might get even smaller by the first game of the pre-season.
    4. Then you have the Grant Hill thing. He has said that if he gets injured again, that he'll retire, but there is a catch to all of this. There is some NBA rule or clause in his contract where if he plays more than so many games this season (15 games I think), that the Magic won't get his salary off the cap for a couple years. Of course, he doesn't wanna push himself too far early in the season like Weisbrod wants him to before the season because if he gets injured too soon, he doesn't get paid everything. It will be an off-court distraction no matter what.
    5. Finally, this is the year that JD is going to be under the microscope as far as a coach. If he doesn't win a lot of games this year, expect him to be out the door. I don't know what to expect from him as a coach because the only previous experience that you can point to is his one year with the Sixers and what he did with the Magic last year, but he will be under heavy pressure.

Will the Magic be able to overcome all of this pressure and make a serious run at the playoffs? I think that the talent is there but I don't know if they'll be able to not let the off-court garbage get to them.

No way The Magic going to make the playoffs. There GM isnt good in others words he sucks. The T-mac trade killed them. T-mac alone is better than all those players in the trade. That was a stupid trade. I think they will win 28-32 wins.

[IMG] This statement isn't really productive, and it's poorly written, it makes one wonder why you decided to post here at all. Granted, the players that we got in return for T-Mac may not be superstars, but they fit well into the system that we are trying to run here in Orlando. The Magic are cleaning house and starting over and trying to establish a team that can run the court more and use athleticism to be productive on offense. This explains why we drafted Howard, picked up Jameer Nelson, and traded for Cuttino Mobley and Steve Francis (two guys that like to run in the fast break).

Whether you like to admit it or not, the Magic got one All-Star player, an above average shooting guard and a solid center for T-Mac and a couple other players that we really didn't need anymore. That sounds like a pretty good deal to me. In my opinion, Weisbrod is doing a great job and really hasn't made a single personnel move that I can whole-heartedly disagree with. I'm not saying that the Magic are going to win a championship this year, but I don't see this team struggling like the team we saw last year simply because this team is completely different (best exemplified by our starting lineup which does not share one player with the starting five from last year).

All I'm saying is this, the last team to do what the Magic have done was Denver last year, and it worked. Who's to say that the Magic - who have picked up many more good players than the Nuggets did last offseason - can't have the same success in the much less competitive Eastern Conference. Hell, the only real threat to the Magic in their own division on paper is the Heat.

Well considering that Tmac only netted us 21 wins last year, 28-32 wins seems like an upgrade to me. So we must improve.

I'm betting on 43-41 season about the 6th seed in the East, 1st round KO again.

Eastern Conference Finals against Shaq and the Heat. SHaq passes the torch to Dwight as Howard averages 25points, 12 boards, 2 blocks, & 3 assist, leading the Magic to a 7 game win and onto the NBA Finals where they face the Spurs.

The NBA hypes up the Duncan/Dwight matchup as the next great rivalry for many years to come. TD and D-12 match head to head making big plays after big plays. Finally, Dwight gets the best of TD as he drives by him for a game winning hook and brings the city of Orlando it's first title in sports history.

BTW-This will happen 2 years from now. [IMG]
