I dont see many people talking about tyler that much. He is the perfect fit for a PF in the nba sizing in at 6-10. He is strong, he can run fast, rebound..Does anyone disagree or does anyone agree with this?... Stats 19 ppg 7.5 rpg
Being a UNC boy, of course I'm down with him, and love his talent, throwback style and toughness. However, he needs to stay in school at least another year. He's not the greatest low post passer, and still could stand to get stronger. He has great moves and even through this season has developed a deeper shot. If he could extend his range, and be more comfortable with his back to the basket, I say Top 5 by the time he decides to come out. Playing with Branden Wright, Deon Thompson and Alex Stepheson will allow him to expand his game next season and with defenses being forced to not double and triple him every time, he will be able to free up to do more things.
I don't think he's underated. He's an amazing player but he's not ready for the next level. I say finish college because that team will have a shot at a title in 2 or 3 years if they stay together.
The speed in which he has learned the North Carolina system, and the success he has had in it speaks volumes of his commitment to the game, and being the best player he can be. I must give credit where credit is due however, and say that a large reason he has found success this early is due to the brilliance of Roy Williams as a coach. You cannot really say anything bad about the North Carolina basketball program they bring in some incredible basketball players, and groom them to be the best they can be. I don’t expect Hansbrough to stay for the full four year college commitment. If UNC has an “Achilles Heel” it has to be the poor graduation rate of their basketball players. However, I do expect him to stay three years in the program, and develop his skills. If he where to commit now I don’t think his stock would be very high their is just to much talent that would be taken over him in the draft. He needs to refine his skills a bit more in the college game, possibly lead UNC deep into a NCAA tournament run in his time their, and his stock will sour. He has all the skills, but they are still very raw. Who knows if he stays in college long enough he might even add more dimensions to his game, much like the way Redick has developed during his four year career.
I don't think he's underrated at all, he's always being talked about. Obviously, he'd be a high pick in the NBA draft if he came out this year, but if he sticks around awhile, plays and progresses alongside the fantastic frosh they've got coming in, he can be a top 3 pick in a couple years, and a dominant player in the NBA. He can improve his outside shot, his passing, his shot blocking and his on-ball defense. Not saying that he's less than average in any of those spots-he's friggin awesome-but he can improve them before he declares. I think he's going to be a very, very good NBA player some day.
No one should be underrating Tyler Hansbrough. He held his own against Greg Oden and was ranked the #3 prospect before declaring for UNC. I agree with KicksDaddy, I think another year at UNC would be great for him. Especially with the recruit class they have coming in. UNC could run the table once again next season.
He can run and finish. You can foul him and he finishes because he has length and can lay the ball up on either side of the basket without trying to dunk. Dunks are easier to stop with fouls, and more dangerous so he's escaped hard foul and landings. And he's developed a variety of post moves which make him unpredictable with the ball on the baseline or in the low post. Those who've played for years know this comes from a life in the gym or on any court. His experience, and he probably had above average high school, home, and camp coaching made him an experienced easily coached player when he hit UNC. Enough said.
