Since the Yankees clinched the division, they've been rarely pitching Rivera (and when they do it's as a mid-reliever instead of the closer) and they always bench at least 2 starters by the 6th inning. They only have a 1 game lead on Detroit for Home-Field in the AL, is it just not that important?

They won the World Series in 2003, being on the road for every series

The best team will win and its that simple.

I think it matters for some teams. Some teams it doesn't, but I think it would be huge for a team like Minnesota to get it. That probably won't happen unless NYY loses out, but that's fine. Yankees just have too much paid for talent all around. None of their player have been on the team long enough to even know what home field advantage is like at Yankee Stadium.

its not VERY impiortant (not NEARLY as important as Riveras health) but there is still something to it. ALOT of young pitchers get rattled in Yankee Stadium. I havent heard anything in particular, but Liriano. A young pitcher, big ego, first playof game is in Yankee Stadium, with perhaps Randy Johnson across from him? thats a lotta pressurebut it isnt THAT importnat

Home field in the baseball means absolutely nothing. Home field in football is a lot and kind of in basketball.

Yankee stadium is still a large advantage, especialyl during the postseason with the banners and the fans.
