I was thinking about this while reading a Gilbert Arenas thread on RealGM. Well, right now he is 3rd in the scoring race, but the top 2 leaders will now have to share a ball, so both of their stats should decrease, which leaves Gil with a great chance at this.Do you guys think Gilbert will average more ppg than Wade and Lebron when they're all in their prime? How many scoring titles can he win?I think so. Gilbert probably will take quite a few more shots than Wade, and Lebron, and he has that 3 pt ability that Lebron doesn't quite have yet. I think he'll be averaging above 30 ppg for most of his prime years in the League, and I think he'll be averaging more than Lebron and Wade. What are your thoughts on this?
Lets see, he's 24 now, right?well he might win this years.probably not with the return of carmelo.so not this year.really the only person in his way is carmelo.areans can probably keep this up till he's 32. Carmelo scores easier though. So I;m going to say Gilbert will win 3 and Carmelo will win 4 and Lebron will win 1.

I think Gil can take multiple in his career. He has the shot, he has the skills, and he has the mindset to do it, so I don't see why he wouldn't be able to take them. This is barring injury, or acquisition of any other star players that would take touches away from him.
0...just like his number...you got Melo, LeBron,Dwade who none has hit prime yet, and one is or was a scoring leader, and the others are in top 5 usually. Arenas wont win a scoring title IMO....thats just me though.
You also can't forget Kobe for the next few seasons.....Since this season has progressed, Kobe's scoring numbers have been increasing. I think Gilbert has a pretty good chance of winning it this year however. His ability to shoot the 3 ball is a great advantage that he has over Lebron, Carmelo, and other players. Also, having Carmelo and Iverson on the same team is obviously helping his case. I say when his career is over with, he has 2 scoring titles.

When it's all said and done, I will agree with Ballerman and say 2. There are others that you have to take into account when you think about scoring leaders, like Kobe, Redd, Melo, King James, DWade, and even the future draft classes, when they reach the league. Arenas is a stellar player though, he can score in buckets, but he won't win them as much as MJ did.

You're just hoping that I'll bite your chain. Seriously, when I post things I have a reason, you had no reason making fun of me there. Shame on you.

Gilbert Arenas is going for the scoring title this year, Carmelo anthony only has his average because he's out for another few weeks. BTW gil is 2nd in the league currently after starting out only averaging 27 a game after the month of november. Carmelo will now have to share the ball w/ both ai and jr so it will be a crowded scoring squad there and Gilbert is arguebely the best scorer in the nba (behind kobe) and has alot of years ahead of him. He'll have at least 3. We'll just wait and see who's prediction is right.
Gil will win a championship with the Wizards in less than 5 years. The East is so open right now that any team can reach the Eastern Conference Finals with ease. Washington is just a couple steps away from a championship.. Gil will definitely win a ring before his career is over. He's just so determined and so confident, you just can't picture him leaving the NBA without one.

What makes you think that he will win a championship in the next 5 years when Lebron, Carmelo, and Wade are all better than him right now, and they are also all going to get better as well? If Lebron could ever get a reliable second scoring option or even third scoring option like Gilbert has, Lebron's team would excell and easily be a top 3 team in the league. Jamison isn't going to get any better over the next couple of seasons, and he is easily your third best player. The Wizards would obviously have to keep Gilbert, they would have to keep Caron, and they would have to sign at least one good big men in order to be in the championship contention. The Dallas Mavericks if they stay together are still going to be a good team in 5 years, any team Wade stays on will be good in 5 years, and the same with Carmelo, Lebron, Kobe, and there are going to be teams like the Bulls and Celtics who are going to be good in 5 years as well. Teams are going to get better......So to say that Washington is going to get a championship in 5 years is a straight up guess that has a small chance of being correct. O yeah, any team with Amare, Chris Paul, and Dwight Howard is going to be good within the next 5 years as well. There is so much competition that its not even funny.....Now I'm not saying that Gilbert isn't a good player, but you are making it sound like its going to be easy....
Gilbert Arenas is the perfect scoring package. He can shoot the 3, drive to the basket, back down smaller guards in the post, and he gets to the free throw line at will. He can score in many ways whenever he wants to.Not many 25 year old players can score the way Arenas does, I think he will rack up 1-2 scoring titles before his career is over.
I really don't care how many scoring titles he wins...but whatever...lots of guys are scoring tons of points and it will tough for him to win more than one in his career.
