Re: How Soon 'Till The Next 'Chip? How soon do you Spurs fans expect another championship? You guys got three total rings. 1999, 2003 and 2005 are those rings' year count. Do you Spurs fans expect another championship or do you think it'll stop at three rings? Express your thoughts.
Re: How Soon 'Till The Next 'Chip? I like the Spurs. Aside from Bowen its hard to to not like them. They are mostly really nice guys. That being said I hope they get a few more. This year. I think they can still win it. They have the talent and TD will likely be healthier, so they are not done yet I dont think.
Re: How Soon 'Till The Next 'Chip? this is a team I dont htink people really hate nor like in particular. they are just always up ther nei the standings..
Re: How Soon 'Till The Next 'Chip? Well, I'll answer my own question.I think the Spurs will probably not win another championship. TD is past his prime (just look at last season). Manu and Parker are still great players, but not enough to help secure another championship ring. Also, Brent Barry, Robert Horry and Bruce Bowen are all older than last season... which is a bad thing. They seem to lose their touches every other game. Bowen might still average great steals and still be considered one of the best defenders in the league, but he's not the same offensive player. Brent Barry is starting to show signs of losing his three's. Robert Horry may still be a great clutch player, but how many times did the Spurs really go to him during times of need? Not much, really. I expect the Spurs to probably win a championship when the team starts over. In other words, when most of the current players retire. As the league progresses, etc., etc.

They're never on sports centre for smokin dope or getting T'd out of a game. They always show respect to eachother and oppasition players in pre/post game interviews. They seem like a respectful bunch of guys.TD was injured mostly last year, so was Manu. Parker is another year older and wiser* . Bowen is still top 5 defenders in the L and he was never expected to do much on offense so who cares if he is declining offensively.I think alot of people are going to get a nasty surprise by the spurs this coming season. Everyone is talking about Miami or Phoenix or Dallas for winning the chip. Everyone forgets about SA. They will win 55 -60 again this year. and challenge for the title again.
Re: How Soon 'Till The Next 'Chip? Let me put it this way. Duncan is done winning unless he goes to a team like Payton did and what PJ Brown wants to do, when he's old and not as effective. After Duncan goes, it's back to the lottery for San Antonio. It's too bad their not bad right now. They might've had a shot at Greg Oden.

Re: How Soon 'Till The Next 'Chip? I'm going to say not anytime soon unless they get a big man. TD still has a few years left, sure, but with a rising powerhouse west, it'll be harder to do now. Suns, Rockets, Mavs, Hornets, Kings, Nuggets(lol not really they suck) could all be legit contenders in the West, some obviously being a bigger stretch. I don't think the Spurs can get through the West and have enough to take down Miami or Chicago or whoever they'd have to play. Then in a few years, TD is on the decline, and they'll have 2 good guards, but will be hurting in many places. Though Manu is 28 already, so that's another downside. In Summary for those of you with ADD: This team's too old to be contenders in a few years, and until then they'll have too many strong teams to contend with.

Also, Once Tim Duncan leaves they wont be back to the lottery, Tony Parker will be only 29 years old and popovich is going to coach up Jackie Butler. He will have a good season next year and become one of the best centers in the league in about 3-4 years, so the spurs will be a 6th, 7th and 8th seed in the playoffs once tim retires. Now I think that the spurs will win a championship this year, they will play the cavs or heat next year in the finals and beat them in 6 games.Oh by the way SunnyD, who won the 2005 NBA championship? Yeah exactly, dont post in hear again.
Re: How Soon 'Till The Next 'Chip? Okay, I change my mind. Just because Timmy didn't average his usual stats doesn't mean he fell off... Well, at least not yet. We'll have to wait until he starts doing 16 and 8. Re: How Soon 'Till The Next 'Chip? I'M MOVING THE CUBS CURSE OF THE BILLY GOAT TO THE SPURS AND LAKERS. Hopefully the Cubs can win now. :censored2:
Re: How Soon 'Till The Next 'Chip? I still think the Spurs can do it this year. They had a very close series agaisnt the Mavericks this season without playing their centers at all. The reason I bring up the centers is because that is the only position that the spurs really got worse a. I really dont think it will matter that much. Tim Duncan will most likely be more heatlhy this season, Tony is going to get even better, and Manu should have a better season. He was injured alot last season which doesn't help to much. They still have a good core players with Tim, Tony, and Manu and their role players are great. AND, they also have a defensive stopper. I honestly think that they could make it back to the finals this year and put up a good series in the finals. They are not done, but they need to pick somebody up in the upcoming drafts. We know that they can do this considering two of their best 3 players were selected 29th and 58th in the draft.
