<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">As the saying goes, once is a fluke, but twice is a trend. Josh Howard had one of the NBA's toughest defensive assignments for the second time in three nights. And once again, he limited an offensive machine to less than half his scoring average. Ray Allen, a 24-point scorer, got 10 points on 4-of-17 shooting Sunday night, a big reason the Mavericks were able to overcome a 10-point deficit in the last 4:31 for a 95-92 victory over Seattle, ending its five-game winning streak. On Friday, Howard shadowed Sacramento's Peja Stojakovic and allowed the sharpshooter only nine points.</div> Source
I think he is just what was needed on this team, we got dampier to compete with the first rate big men of the league but we needed a shutdown guy on the perimeter, and we got that with Howard. The Mavericks really do their homework when they draft, and its paying off
I would hardly say Howard was the reason Allen had such a poor game. Ray missed alot of open shots and even when covered, alot of the shots he missed he would normally make. However Josh's block on Daniels was huge.
Howard played some great defense last night against the Suns. He also had a career high 30 points and made some big plays in the final quarter. Howard just hustles harder than his man and gets his hands on a lot of loose balls. He's being rewarded for his play the last few games and the Mavs are 3-0 since Stackhouse went down and Howard's gotten more PT.
