Jindal has to be the frontrunner going into 2012. I don't think he should be campaigning in 2008 though, even implicitly.
The Republicans should save Jindal for 2016 against Hillary Clinton. Run up against Clinton calling her the status quo, more of the same, etc. Of course if Obama is extremely popular, Democrats will probably win big time again in 2016.
It sure worked in 2000. Of course, Gore was the bi-polar candidate so I'm not sure that's a good analogy.
And if he's not extremely popular? What if he does mediocre his first term? Poorly in his first term?
if he doesn't do a great job in his first term, there will probably be a lot of backlash because of all the hype he's getting. the republicans would be very dumb to just concede the next election already.
