Hudson could end up in Atlanta

    CHARLEY WALTERS

    Pioneer Press Columnist

Timberwolves free-agent point guard Troy Hudson could end up with the Atlanta Hawks this week if a contract with the Wolves can't be concluded.

Three weeks ago, Hudson and the Wolves said they thought they had a six-year contract agreement for $37 million, with $21 million guaranteed. Since then, there have been disagreements on both sides about language involving the amount of guarantees and injury protection, and the NBA wouldn't approve the deal unless some salary cap issues were clarified.

The Pioneer Press reported last week that Hudson is getting frustrated over the lack of progress. Atlanta is expected to offer Hudson a contract, and Seattle is interested, too. If a deal with the Wolves can't be reached within the next few days, look for Hudson to take his services elsewhere.

According to Charley Walters from the St Paul Pionner Press, T-hud may be looking to sign with the Atlanta Hawks.

I don't know how I feel about it. On one hand, I'm like "see ya" because I know he can score, but lacks dimension. On the other hand, I know he can score, and that is useful. If the Wolves have let the specifics, aren't they obligated to fulfill that contract? He should relax.

The Wolves havent seem that eager from the start to re-signed Hudson if you ask me, I think its because like Sabretooth said Hudson is one dimensionial. If Hudson isnt putting the ball in the basket, he wont be doing much else off the bench for the wolves. The Wolves need some solid on-ball defense, they need another person who can create shots for other people when they go to their 2nd unit, with Cassell & KG on the bench. They need these things from their backup point guard position. And Hudson isnt going to provide these things imo. The thing is now most of the good backup points who can provide these things are now off the Free Agent market. So its almost like the Wolves have to re-sign Hudson, unless they are sure they have away to aquire on via trade. But more then likely they will have to re-sign Hudson.

Not so sure about that....Josh Childress, Al Harrington, Josh Smith and Boris Diaw, are good building pieces for a sucessful franchise. Although they all play naturally play the 3, Childress says hes a 2, Josh is a 3, And Al can play the 3 and 4, same with Boris.

On the signing, I wouldn't sign a guy with a number of injuries in the past few years like Hudson to a 6 year deal.

If he does go to Atlanta itl help them, but they still will stink. They got good draft picks but the lack depth IMO. They will win about 25-30 games this year.

I personnally don't like this trade. Since Hudson is my favorite player on the Wolves, and I think he fits in with the wolves.
