<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Larry Hughes' time with the Cavaliers might be just about over. According to several league sources, the Cavs have contacted several teams about a deal involving the 6-5 guard. One source said the Washington Wizards are one of those teams and another source said another team is in the Atlantic Division. Hughes spent three years with the Wizards before signing a free-agent deal with the Cavs in 2005 worth between $65 million and $70 million. The trade deadline is Feb. 21. "Hughes will be gone way before then," said one source, who did not want to be identified. The relationship between the Cavs and Hughes has not gone well. Hughes was GM Danny Ferry's biggest signing, but Hughes' two-plus seasons have been riddled with injuries. When healthy, Hughes has not been comfortable in the Cavs' offense, which takes away from his strength as a slasher. He's instead asked to take outside shots, which is not one of his strengths.</div> The Plain Dealer
He is a very versatile SG, in my opinion. If the Cavs had a good point guard both Hughes and LeBron could work well together and probably become a very good 1-2 punch. I just think making Hughes play point guard isn't a great idea because he isn't a good creator for his team mates. While Gibson, is a bit better at PG, but still not a pure PG.
Hughes hasn't been playing PG since he's come off the injured list. He's been sucking equally as bad as a backup SG.
I would rather keep Gooden than Varejao. So I would rather trade Hughes and Varejao for a pure PG, plus salaries to balance it out. It's a shame - I like Hughes as a player, just not the way he has been playing as a Cavalier.
Who the hell would want Larry Hughes and his 36+ mils over the next 3 years? They would have to move Varejao, Gooden, Gibson, or a first round pick to get him off the roster. Or they would need to trade for some other team's worthless crap (Marbury?).

Trading his contract with someone of value to get a shorter, horrible contract that another team doesn't want.
I do think that, in the right situation, Hughes can prove to at least being nearly worth his contract. He will always be known as overpaid, but if he can regain his pre-Cavaliers form, he could be a worthwhile asset to any side. It all depends whether he will fit into a side. He doesn't shoot to well, but is a good slasher and defender. I just hope we don't giive up to much to get rid of him.
The only team that would even consider would be the Knicks. Every team in the league is very contract/luxury tax oriented to even consider taking on Hughes even if Gooden or Varajeo go with him.

He'll probably trade David Lee for him and say something like: "Our talent is up. Hughes takes us another step closer to winning our goal of an NBA championship."
