By Bryan Hoch / MLB.com NEW YORK -- Mark Teixeira and Curtis Granderson belted two-run homers off Mike Pelfrey to support Phil Hughes as the Yankees defeated the Mets, 5-3, on Saturday at Yankee Stadium. After slumping through a three-game losing skid, the Yankees' lineup showed signs of life against Pelfrey (9-2), one of the National League's top pitchers this season. Teixeira connected in the third inning for his 11th homer, which came with Brett Gardner aboard, and Granderson teed off in the fifth inning for his sixth homer with Jorge Posada on base. Teixeira also brought home the first run with a first-inning double-play ball, allowing Gardner to trot home. Jose Reyes homered twice off Hughes, who otherwise avenged his only loss of this season, handed to him by the Mets on May 22. Reyes connected with Hughes' second pitch for a solo blast and repeated the feat in the third inning, slugging a two-run shot -- his fifth -- which came with Henry Blanco on base. That was all the Mets would muster against Hughes, who completed seven innings of five-hit ball, walking three and striking out four with a wild pitch to collect his 10th victory of the year.
