<div align="center"></div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">If you look on a map, Chicago is not on a direct route from Phoenix to Philadelphia. But that?s the route Steven Hunter took to get to the 76ers. Hunter grew up in the Chicago area and attended DePaul University. It just so happens that Sixers head coach Maurice Cheeks is also from Chicago, and both were in the Windy City last week. Playing the role of matchmaker, Sixers President Billy King set the two up for a lunch meeting ? one that turned out to be very effective. Due in large part to their discussion during the meal, Hunter signed a contract with the 76ers on Friday. ?We had a great, great conversation and immediately I felt very comfortable with him and the way he coaches,? Hunter said. ?That?s one of the main things I was looking at when I was evaluating teams.? King had long been targeting Hunter as a player to add to a frontcourt that already contains Samuel Dalembert and Chris Webber. ?He was one of the guys at the top of our list. We didn?t know if we were going to be able to get anything done financially due to the tax, but fortunately we were able to make a move last week, and marc bartelstein and I have been talking since July 1. ?To me this is a great day, because we?ve added another center to the core of our team, and we?ve gotten more athletic. [We have] another shot blocker, and I think his offense, if you look at his stats and the way he shoots from the field, we get some good scoring. I?m just excited and didn?t think it could get done, but I?m glad he?s now a Philadelphia 76er.?</div> Full Article
Good to see that he is happy. Hopefully a happy player is a performing player. I really think he showed some flashes of brilliance over the past season and with Webber and Dalembert he has the chance to blossom under some good tutelage. Very athletic, very energetic and very long. Hopefully very happy leads to very hard working which leads to very many wins for us!!!
