If Minnesota offered you Rubio straight up for Curry right now, would you do it? Forget about if/why Min would do it, just assume they offer for whatever reason, and assume Ricky says he'd play in Oakland. I might hesitate, but I would do it. I'm testing the Curry hype :)

Personally, I think Rubio is gonna be a bust. I see a cross between a poor man's Jason Williams and Marco Bellineli. Not anything special in my mind. Not really sure about Curry either, but I think he'll be exciting in this system.

Curry is more proven at this point, IMO, only because he has done it in USA basketball, albeit in College. Rubio is so awesome, but we have yet to see how it translates in the NBA. It will probably translate fine, but he won't be looking like Magic Johnson the way he did in Spain. The NBA game isn't nearly as fluid. The bodies are bigger, the lane gets clogged, and the pace just seems different. Also, there's the language thing, which may take some adjustment time. Lastly, there's the contract negotiation buyout and whatnot, which may be a headache.

I think Curry will be far better in year one. However, down the road, it's hard to quantify. Rubio flashes signs of brilliance that no one has shown before. I liked when they compared him to Nash at the draft, and he said, "I'm just Ricky Rubio." He is that unique. But he's never played, consistently, against the kind of athletes he'll see here.

Sometimes guys are heroes in their home-country, and they come to the NBA only to end up being role players. I mean, wasn't Pietrus the Michael Jordan of France? :)

With all this said, I think I'd still take Rubio, only because even though Curry has star potential, the upside ceiling with Rubio may be even greater.

As much as I'm warming up to the idea of Curry, I would do this trade. Rubio, as young as he is, played pro ball. Perhaps in a limited capacity due to his age, but he played and made a lot of money. He also played in the Olympics and showed he has the moxy (as Jim Barnett would say) to play with the big boys. I'm not saying Curry doesn't have the same capabilities, but there is a reason why Rubio was chosen before Curry.

Nelson said Curry was the second best player in the draft.

    I'd take Rubio.
