KG is my favorite player but it doesnt look like he is going to get the mvp cause the Timberwolves arent even going to the playoffs I think. I wish KG would get traded to a better team where he could have some help, and would not be holding the whole team on his back.
Okay, something on topic, if J-Rich was averaging 30 ppg, 10 rpg, 5 apg, he wouldn't get MVP because the Warriors can't win, KG is different because he has a decent team and he is always an all star...
^^are you sure you guys aren't over exaggerating? i don't think KG will get the MVP this season. i think Steve Nash deserves it this year and hopefull he gets it
This is pretty interesting. Garnett is putting up very similar numbers compared to last year. He isn't considered in MVP voting because his team is underachieving, and he takes the responsibility. <u>'03-04 Stats</u> 24.2 points per game 13.9 rebounds per game 5.0 assists per game 2.17 blocks per game 1.46 steals per game <u>'04-05 Stats</u> 22.1 points per game 13.9 rebounds per game 5.8 assists per game 1.39 blocks per game 1.5 steals per game So the numbers may be a little less, but the season is far from over. I wouldn't rule the Wolves out of the Playoffs just yet. And I can also bet you that if they land the 8 seed, San Antonio or Phoenix is going to be sweating.
I agree. KG is having a great year, but not an MVP year. Nash deserves it 100%. If the Wolves were winning more, a top 3 seed..you could make an argument for KG, but they aren't even in the playoffs right now.
It depends on the second half really. If the Wolves stumble into the playoffs, then he has no chance. If they don't make the playoffs, then he has no chance. But if KG leads them on a run for the playoffs and they have one of the great all time second halfs in NBA history, then he might have a chance. I personally think they won't have on of the great all time second halves in NBA history, but I think that they will do as good as anyone from here on out. So he still probably will be out of contention for the MVP. Unless he scores 35+ in half the games or something. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">And I can also bet you that if they land the 8 seed, San Antonio or Phoenix is going to be sweating.</div> That is definately true. This is practically the same team as last year, but with some improvements talentwise. If they can get their attitude right and get healthy, this team will be even better then last year's team and no one wants to have to face that in the first round. The only team in the West that I think that might be able to beat the Wolves if they were playing at their very best is San Antonio, and that is 50%/50% at best IMO. Phoenix is a great regular season team, but they are a lot like Sacramento and Dallas from years past. Everyone remembers years when Sacramento and Dallas just tore the league up in the regular season and ended up with amazing records, but they didn't live up to expectations in the playoffs. Thats because they were running, jump shooting, no D teams, and that just doesn't work in the playoffs. Phoenix is now a running, shooting, no D team and to make it even worse it is an inexperienced young running, shooting, no D team. If they have to face the Wolves they will be in trouble.
I think that there are other players out there that are more deserving at this time. Right now, I'm looking at Steve Nash. But the season is not over yet.
The Timberwolves have all the same players, yes. But what I think is going to push us into the playoffs is McHale. Just watch how much harder everyone is playing. McHale is straight up, if you don't play defense, you're on the bench.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting KG is the MVP:</div><div class="quote_post">Phoenix is a great regular season team, but they are a lot like Sacramento and Dallas from years past. They still have a good defense but I don't know if it will be good enough in the playoffs. Back on topic, the season isn't over and the Timberwolves still have a chance to make the playoffs and win some more games. He's still putting similar numbers as last years MVP season. It's still too early to take KG out of consideration but right now, he won't win the award.
YEA Nash may have it but dont forget.. Nash may have it, but dont forget about A.I because he has had many 50 point games and he may finish the season even stronger. All Iverson has to do is get his team to the playoffs. He has been stepping up alot this season. But I doubt KG because he hasnt been playing with that same mean intensity like usual. This year he seem like he got softer, im used to seein him yell and get crunk but he hasnt done too much of it this year so i think he is not pushing as hard as he was last year. But he still is the leagues leading rebounder so that shows that he boxes out some of the bigger guys lol
His stats are great but his team is playing like crap. A good player on a crappy team will not win the MVP, no matter how great the numbers are. It's as simple as that.
yo <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">KG is my favorite player but it doesnt look like he is going to get the mvp cause the Timberwolves arent even going to the playoffs I think. "it doesnt look like he is going to get the MVP" - you should be on sportcenter for that analysis
KG would have to play a spectacular second half and bring the Wolves in charging and land sixth place to have a chance at MVP, and that's all possible. I wont say unlikely yet, because I am yet to see how the Timberwolves will play under McHale and after the break. Things can really go uphill at this point, so we will see. I dont know if I really need to comment on KG's performance, you need to understand that someone cant play at a playoff level every night, particularly when your team around you isn't helping you out any. So think about that when it seems KKG isn't getting "crunk".
