everyone remembers Damon Jones' "it's not their defense" quote from round 1. now Richard Jefferson doesn't think the Piston's defense has been a factor. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> ?We had a good first half,? he said about Friday?s game. ?They dominated us in the second half. It wasn?t their defense. Obviously, we proved that we?re capable. We had a great first half. We weren?t doing anything major. We weren?t hitting any no-look three-pointers from half court. We played solid basketball. We forced them into some tough shots and we executed. </div>um, RJ? your team was held to 11 third quarter points. oh yeah, in game 1 your team scored 56 points. nah, the Piston's defense has nothing to do with it...
The guy has a huge ego so It's never about the other team's defense. I remember him saying the same kind of thing last year in the finals. Quite sad really.
I guess the Nets have to say something to get their confidence up. But to say that Detroit doesn't play defence is to say that eating Krispy Kreme donuts don't make you fat. The Nets should focus on playing a full 48 minutes instead of finding excuses as to why they did/didn't make shots.
funny because detractors made excuses, when the Pistons went on their streak keeping opponents under 70. the Pistons have been setting NBA defensive milestones all year. when do they get credit for being among the best defensive teams of all time?
Frank used up all their timeouts so early in that game. It was 3 technical foul totals in that game right? Frank, Brown and 'Sheed? I agree with you CV, totally, just another excuse because they got whupped. Dre was right, the Pistons were going to be killer come playoff time. If only the Nets could just pull away really far in the style of the Mavericks and Kings, so far that it'd be difficult to catch up. But that's probably not gonna happen.
ben wallace is so overrated, damn, cant stand it, everyone kept regarding him as a super star center,,, why?????? isnt there anyone else in the NBA??????? the guy plays defense which is true, BUT HE IS NOT THE BEST DEFENDER IN THE LEAGUE, KG, WHO IS A PF GRABBED MORE RPG THAN BIG MONKEY HEAD AFRO AFRICAN BLACK BEN, BLOCKS, KG BLOCKED AGAIN MORE THAN THAT BLACK SIMMON BEN, HE CANT SCORE, NOTHING ON OFFENSE, CNT SHOOT FREE THROWS, JUST LIKE SHAQ, GOD DAMN IT, IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE ANY BASKET WHEN HE SHOOTS OUTSIDE FROM THE PAINT, EVEN IN THE PAINT IS HARD TO SCORE. IF HE SHINES BECAUSE OF HIS GREAT DEFENSE, A GREAT DEFENSE PLAYER WONT ALLOW AN OPPONENT TO GRAB MORE REBOUNDS AND BLOCKS THAN HE, ALSO NOT LETTING VC TO GAVE HIM A FACIAL, IF HE WERE THE BEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER, HE SOHULD HAVE AVOIDED..... YAO MING IS DEFINITELY AN ALL STAR, WELL-DESERVED, CAN SHOOT FROM PERIMETER, FROM THE PAINT, FREE THROWS, GOOD REBOUNDER AND BLOCKER, HAS THE HEIGHT, ALTHOUGH KINDA TOO LIGHT, ANYWAY, BETTER THAN SHAQ AND SCORELESS BEN. DURING THE ALL STAR GAME OF 2003 AND 2004,,, CAN ANY BEN WALLACE FAN TELL ME WHAT THE HELL DID HE DO ON THOSE TWO GAMES TO BE CONSIDERED AS A GREAT PLAY? AS AN ALL STAR SHOWTIME ? NOTHING, HE CANT GUARD SHAQ, HE GOT FACIAL BY SHAQ, YAO DID AN ALLEYOOP DUNK ON HIS FACE, A ROLL DEFENSIVE PLAYER DONT ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN,,,, SO BORING TO SEE HIM PLAY..................................... NO REMEARKABLE PLAY................... SCORELESS AND HATE TO SEE HIM IN AN ALL STAR GAME, WHO DOES NOTHING BUT RUNNING UP AND DOWN THE FLOOR, I CANT PICTURE IN MY MIND ANY GREAT PLAY HE HAS DONE IN THE PLAYOFF GAMES....NONE...
Hell Yeah The Pistons Did Not Play Great Defense, U People Consider Ben The Best Defender, A Best Defender Player Wouldnt Let That Happen.... Jermaine Oneal Is Way Much Better Than That Monkey Ben, In Every Category....
someone forgot to take their ritalin. 1. take a deep breath 2. form sentences in your head before typing 3. turn off your caps lock 4. come back when you can complete a coherent statment
I think it's rather natural that teams don't want to give the other guy credit for what's happening. That helps you believe you are more in control of what's going on. I have to admit, after last night's loss I was thinking the same kind of things - that it wasn't Jersey's D that was so good, we just couldn't hit our shots. Well... NJ might have had something to do with the fact that we weren't hitting. Having said that, our shot selection really hurt us last night. We don't need sheed popping 3's early in the shot clock, and he did that a few times. We didn't make them work hard enough on defense IMO and that helped make them look good.
