In the next episode, we'll learn who the baby's father is, and a new romance blooms under unlikely circumstances. Also, while still in the hospital, Alicia schemes to win her man back.

Too bad he wasn't that upset when the Blazers were declining to last in the NBA in defense. So many people get so offended over someone else's opinion versus what is actually happening. Guess that is where we are as a society. I'm not saying Karl was right, but why is it such a big deal?

Well, I think Portland would have about 5-6 wins this year without Damian Lillard, but I think Karl makes a valid point about Lillard trying to do too much on his own at times.

And I've defended Damian's defense, but these last two games without him we've held our opponent under 100 points. How much of that is Damian, I don't know, but we'd only done it 5 times prior this season.

I really liked that he got pissed, but you're right that in the grand scheme of things it might have been better to hear more fire about their slipshod defense over the past couple of months.

Because having emotional outbursts at your players has never really proven to be productive, especially when you're dealing with a young roster. Yelling at CJ isn't going to make him bigger. Yelling at Leonard isn't going to make him quicker. Yelling at Plumlee isn't going to make him longer, etc etc.

If Stotts is going to have an "emotional outburst" at his players, and from time to time he probably should, he should do it in private and not in front of cameras. We the fans should never hear about it.

Yes and it is possible that people are saying he should be doing something that he actually has done (because it would be in private). So what are they saying again?

Agreed...but I don't remember anyone suggesting he should be having emotional outbursts at his players. That would be a poor manifestation of being upset. One can be upset and use that to accomplish things in a productive manner. To resort immediately to the emotional outburst or to assume that was what was being implied perhaps speaks more to the second part...where we are as a society.

Stotts was protecting his star player from an unwarranted attack by a crotchety old coach who was trying to apply his experiences with Carmelo Anthony to Damian Lillard absent anything to base that assertion on. Good for Stotts.

First, getting mad and emotional about our poor defense does nothing to solve the problem. Calmly and rationally making changes to your defensive schemes and implementing those schemes is a much more productive approach. That's exactly what Stotts did, and he did it before George Karl called out his star player with, admittedly, ZERO inside information.

Second, Karl crossed a line. In the coaching profession, you never criticize another coach's talent or his relationship with his players. That's a professional courtesy, but I guess since Karl has obviously burned all his bridges and has no plans to ever coach again, he thought it didn't apply to him.

I love that Stotts called out Karl and stood up for his star player. He was obviously pissed, but remained in control and said exactly the right things. He shot down Karl (I loved it when he told him he needed to stay in his own lane) and praised the talent, work ethic and leadership of his star player. He wins points for the way he handled this situation, both with his current players, and any who may consider playing here in the future.

Now we all know why Coby Karl doesn't have a shoe deal, rap career or insurance commercial....his dad wouldn't stand for that sort of anti basketball activity!
