Seems like the Cubs are struggling a lot these days. Normally they swoon in June, but they were in a strong position as July started. However, the start of a swoon may have occurred at the end of the month, and they're not showing signs of winning much lately. They went from the best record in baseball to no longer. Yeah, yeah, TheBeef, I jinxed them indeed.
They'll be fine. They can't be unstoppable all the time! A little help for the Twins would have been nice though( losing the series vs the White Sox is what I'm referring to).
They lost tonight and they have lost 6 of the last 8, but I remain encouraged because of a few trends: 1)They never seem to go quietly....even tonight, they lose 2-1, but they score 1 in the 9th, and had the tying run in scoring position, the go ahead on base, and The Riot fouled off a bunch of 98 mph fastballs to stay alive before eventually swinging through one....they made the closer throw 25 pitches to convert a tough save....that ability to rally wont always result in victories, but it has a ton of times this season, and its a trait that can't be ignored 2)They are beatup at the moment, but they should be healthy soon....Zamby is coming back this week, Soriano is healing well.... 3)Even with the swoon, they have only lost a game off the 3 and 1/2 game lead they had after sweeping the White Sox....the Brewers have close a bit, but remain at distance.... 4)They will be a prime player in the trade market approaching the deadline and wont be suprised if they add a top end pitcher, maybe Sabbathia, this month....
