I know you all want what is best for America. I also know that at this moment things might look bleak. I have been in your position watching Gore lose. But for a few more years, there isn't much you can do change the situation.

I ask you to understand that we also want what is best for America, and for us Obama getting a second term is a big part of that. Please keep your mind open to good results from the President. I do believe that we will be in a more thriving economy in four years.

I will also reexamine the situation in four years and will admit, eat crow, if the economy does not recover. We shall see. But for now, Obama is the President of all Americans and I hope he proves to be a good choice. Please keep an open mind.

    Gridlock.

    For The Win!

Gridlock means govt. won't do any more harm than it already has. And it has. Massively.

I am not a patriot and I won't pretend to be one for the sake of jingoism. If anything, this loss motivates me to better myself, not my country.

We already know Obama's vision for this country and I simply cannot support it.

What do people expect President Obama will do differently in a second term?

My guess. Spend more money, no budget, more federal control, more welfare, lower jobs, stocks market recession on his capital gains taxes, and higher income taxes on the upper middle class and up.

He'll be more radical. He'll bypass more checks and balances at every corner in order to further turn this country into a welfare state.

Exact same thing I was thinking. What changes in the 2nd term, other than more blaming of the other side? What is Obama's vision?

As I see it, the ball's in Obama's court. If he moves a bit to the center, recognizing that the popular vote is about evenly split, and is willing to make some concessions to the Republicans in the House, as Clinton did, there's a chance that his second term can be positive. OTOH, if he comes in pushing a strongly left agenda, I think all hell's going to break loose. Four years of total gridlock, with the debt limit mess coming up right away, is going to make an economic recovery nearly impossible. I'm also concerned that the Libya debacle is going to blow up into a really nasty fight unless Obama makes a real attempt to bury the hatchet with the House.

I'm more than willing to give the President a chance, but he absolutley has to show some leadership if he wants his second term to be a success. And, as any good politician will tell you, a good leader is also a good compromiser. The ball's in his court. I hope he doesn't bounce it off his foot.

Well the Fiscal Cliff is coming in about a month or two. History has shown that he has not conceded on these budget issues and has been unable to deal with a republican majority in the past, its largely been "his way or the highway". Chances are they'll bitch and moan until the very last second of collapse, but it will just be another makeshift solution that just delays the problem rather than addressing the underlying issues.

    yay.

Do angry, bitter people become Republicans....or does being Republican make them that way?

I didn't rant when Bush was elected, and frankly it offends me that Republicans so often are incapable of the same curtesy.

I gave his first term a chance. I had high expectations for this guy because he came in talking about "hope" and "change". All I see is an escalation in Afghanistan, huge bailouts for banks and the auto industry, and an economy that is still floundering.

    What's his next big move?

I can't speak for all people who voted Democrat - only for myself. *I* didn't act that way, so I feel I have the right to be offended when other people act like jerks. (Rs or Ds) That is the difference between an honest opinion and the hypocrisy that dominates political debate in this country.

You know, it's funny, if the government was actually efficient at spending money and didn't flush our tax dollars down the toilet, it wouldn't be so bad. Unfortunately, government wastes money hand over fist. And that's both parties... not one or the other.

how can it be hypocritical when we actually lay out our justifications for why we are negative on Obama? I mean we're not screaming shit like "he's a kenyan!" or something like that, we're merely taking his past actions as an indication of future behavior, along with what he outlined in his campaign.
