someone poke Brassard while at it. He's been a dog all season. It would also be nice if our supposed first line center played like a first line center.

Both of them have stunk this year. And Stepan hasnt exactly set the world on fire.

To be honest nobody has really exceeded expectations except for Zuc, Kreider and Talbot

I feel the same way on cally I did with cano. If he asks for obscene money take a friggin hike. Hes just not that good and maybe another guy with too many torts miles on him

Cano is a top 5-6 player in MLB, his contract was insane but Cally isn't close to that as much as we appreciate him

They will re-sign Cally. To me there is no way they let their captain leave. I am confident he agrees to a deal with a 5 to 6 mill cap hit. And to me that is fair considering the leadership he brings to the team. On talent and production maybe he should be in the 4's cap hit wise, but he'll get that extra 1 to 1.5 mill for being captain and leader.

With that said, yes Cally needs to play better. No way to argue it. That penalty in OT was a joke. To swing your stick like that is ridiculous. Accident of course, but what do you think will happen when you swing like that? Stupid low % play by Cally, and it cost us big time.

Sorry, but Sather would be on crack to give Callahan 5 million a year. Right now, I would give him a pay cut. He hasn't proved to be durable and his skills look to have peaked. Most I would offer him is 4 years at 4 million and he would be lucky to get that.

I disagree. He played well last season. Scored 30 the prior season. He is the leader. He is the captain. If his cap hit isn't in the 5's somewhere I will be surprised. And I personally don't think that is crazy. Keep him in the low to mid 5's for 4 or 5 years and I won't go nuts.

He's making $4.875 this year so I would think he'd want that raise, we'll see what kind of team leader he is come free agency time and what other teams offer. The problem with Callahan is he's a small guy like so many other Rangers. I wouldn't give him more than $5, can't see him getting any better.

Watching him in person last night, he's very careful about checking and teams are targeting his wrist big time. It's affecting his play.

If he doesn't play with reckless abandon, he's not a very effective player. IMO the Rangers need to acquire extra picks if they are out of it after 50 games or don't look like a cup threat which they most likely won't. They need to really put an emphasis on drafting big, physical, wings with some speed, toughness and scoring touch. Those prospects are really hard to predict. However, this team badly lacks a big center who is great on faceoffs who is a 55 point type. Dubinsky should have been that guy but he is lazy and never could put it together.
