but carolina looked dominant in the first half against the giants...i just hope it was a matter of them being good, and not a matter of the giants being bad...as accurate has delhomme has shown himself to be, the new emphasis on illegal contact, and the two-headed monster at running back, i think smith, muhammed, proehl, colbert, etc., could have a stellar year as a receiving corp...in watching last night, i got a feeling that i was watching a superb team that was going to be hard to beat, like i used to get when i watched the jimmy johnson cowboys, the niners of the 80's-early 90's, and the broncos that won back-to-back super bowls...i know i am a fan, but i wasn't a fan of the niners or broncos(ok, i admit it, i was a cowboys fan until johnson got fired)...i believe that any who thinks carolina won't sniff the nfc championship will be seriously disappointed...carolina is deep at most positions, and with fields coming back, our defense is going to be better than it was last year...they are starting to get a swagger...i think i am going to enjoy this season...

man, this has been tough...i was so looking forward to this season...Carolina had done a great job from the top down, and looked like they were getting away from the losing and bad luck(kerry collins, rae carruth, etc) that have plagued them over their first decade...not so...now it looks as though Davis is now going on IR, which means we have more than 10 players out for the season, (most of them starters, but all of them were or would have been major contributors) including our ENTIRE running back corp...we have lost very good players from every part of the field except for defensive backfield and QB, and now that i have pointed that out, we will probably lose those also...i hear the word decimated sometimes from the talking heads, but i don't think that even begins to describe it...

ponder these names that are gone for the year...

    S. Davis-RB
    D. Foster-RB, 2nd team punt returner
    S. Smith-WR, 1st team punt returner, 2nd team kick returner
    K. Jenkins-DT
    S. Burton-DT (Put on IR in preseason)
    J. Armstead-LB (Put on IR in preseason)
    W. Hampton-CB
    K. Pittman-DE (Put on IR in preseason)
    D. Richardson-S (Put on IR in preseason)
    R. Smart-3rd team RB, 1st team kick returner
    T. Tillman-S
    D. Brezinski-OG

Not to mention the O-lineman Meadows who retired due to injury right before training camp, starting center Nelson missing every game so far with a hip injury, having to waive special teams ace Jarrod Cooper because he was too stubborn to get a cab and got caught FOR THE THIRD TIME(and then goes to the raiders who we have to play less than 10 days later), etc....it seems no matter what the front office does this year, be it trying to improve a position, or replacing a lost player, it has gone sour...i am upset we are having a bad seson, but i can't be upset at the staff or players...when you lose 65% of your offense in the first quarter of the season, and their replacements, there is not much you can expect other they play as hard as they can...i commend the coaches and players for at least trying in the face of some serious adversity...

You ain't kidding, GF1...we've lost 4 running backs...we've had to sign players from the practice squad and anywhere else we can find them...against SF this past week, our kicker, Kasay, hurt his calf and couldn't play, and our QB Delhomme, fractured the thumb on his playing hand...if you read my previous post, you'll see that I called that one...and BF1, i dare say this is probably the worst a team, any team, has ever, i mean ever, been hit by injuries...we have had 7-8 different lineups for our offensive line...our punter was kicking PAT's & FG's last week...I know New England is putting players in odd spots, but they have players left on their roster...we almost don't....we might have to raid the Mecklenburg County High School system to field a team by week 12
