After getting a good look at this kid Talbot in the net do any of you think the Rangers may not be in such a hurry to dump 7-9 million per on Hank? Just wondering, not suggesting this kid should take over for the great Henrik but if they give similar performances going forward that money for Hank could be used to fix other areas where we are weak. I love Hank but just wondering if anyone else was thinking this kid Cam might be a keeper.

Hank has started slowly before and always picks it up, so I am confident he will again this season. With that said, I will say what I have said for a while on Hank, put your money where you mouth is. Hank always says I want to win I want to win, well prove it. Take 8 mill or so per. Don't look for 9 or 10 mill per. Let the team have that extra 1-2 mill to sign another forward or a depth dman. Prove it Hank.

And to me if he takes 8 mill or so per over 6-8 seasons, I do it today. If he is holding out for 9 mill + I pass. I have said that from the start, and that is my opinion on Hank.

I dunno man, if Cam plays this well the whole year they will have a dilemma on their hands with Hank. Hank is not in his early 20's anymore. But he has been golden here for a long time, still I would have to swallow real hard giving a goalie 7-9 million a year long term when I have what seems to be a young stud sitting next to him on the bench. Our new coach is not beholden to anyone, and he seems to like Cam...a lot.

What is interesting for trades is that comments around the league I'm hearing about Cam is that he's for real. If there are teams out there that think he can be a good, starting goalie, he will have awesome trade value. Especially being a cheap goalie with his salary.

If the Jets are putting Kane out there, they might want a package like this.

    MDZ, Talbot and Miller.

I don't think the Rangers have any interest in moving Talbot. However, teams usually do the right thing by the player. If they feel teams want to use Talbot as a starter, they will probably trade him in the off-season to give the kid a chance to earn a big contract by starting.

That being said, you can't let Lundqvist go because you think Cam might be for real. You know Lundqvist year in and year out is one of the best goalies on the planet. You are better off trading Cam for a prospect and number 1 pick, then drafting a goalie with that pick for 3-4 years down the line.

If there is a Cam trade it happens in the offseason like you said dump. I cannot see them moving him now. And obviously they would need to re-sign Hank before they deal Talbot, if they want to deal Talbot.

I didn't consider dealing Talbot but it makes sense over losing Hank. Cam could bring back a nice prospect and a decent pick as well. We already know Hank is battle hardened to play in NY and at a very high level. Hank is going to get that 8-9 million per though, God forbid Nash gets another concussion and is out for a long time you will be cursing the day that so much money is tied up on a goalie that we can't get another top player here. If Cam keeps playing like this...its going to be very hard to give Hank what he wants IMO. I don't think Hank stays for anything less than a monster deal.

They will buyout Richards and the end of the season. I don't think Stralman is back. My guess is he gets offered at least 4 y, 4 million by a team out there who has no defenseman like the Islanders. I'm not sure Girardi will be back. Let's face it, he would be stupid not to take a 6 y, 6 million offer from some team and my guess is there will be at least 5 teams out there who will offer him that. This will be Girardi's last big contract and he needs to take advantage of it.

In theory, it makes more sense to trade Girardi then MDZ because there is a strong chance they will lose Girardi for nothing. However, neither Moore or MDZ has shown enough to allow Sather to do that.

Too bad Talbot's 26 already and not an RFA, that would be great to have both of them for sure for the next 3-4 years.

I may be way off but I think the Rangers are pretty high on Cam...

NEW YORK -- Last week, we saw Alain Vigneault quickly stifle any potential of a goaltending controversy.

After Saturday’s 5-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks? Not so much.

Asked if he would consider returning Monday to backup netminder Cam Talbot, who recorded his first win at Madison Square Garden following a stellar 35-save performance, Vigneault did not refute the possibility.

Talbot was outstanding in goal for the Rangers on Saturday.

Instead, the New York Rangers' coach said he had already decided on a starter for Monday’s match against the Winnipeg Jets, but had yet to inform his two goaltenders.

Vigneault didn't want to tip his hand just yet.

When pressed further about a potential scenario in which the 26-year-old Talbot could play so well that it would force Vigneault’s hand, the coach politely tabled the query.

“We’ll get to that on Monday,” he said as he strode away from the lectern following his postgame news conference.

Today's game teams need to have two good goalers.

as well as Talbot is playing, AV has to let Henrik know he is the number one keeper. He cannot go the route of not telling the keepers who is going to start the next game. as long as he keeps to the plan of Hank starting 62-67 games there will be no drama. Hank has earned as much. what the dollar amount is for Hank will be determined by what he does in those 62-67 games. if he is adamant about 9 million per, he has to know the Rangers might balk. time will tell

If he wants 9 million per the rangers better balk unless the cap goes up about 10 mill
