I wanna talk about Antoine Wright.

The reason I made this thread is to ask the question: could Wright be successful with spot minutes at PG?

First of all, stats-wise, not bad: 6 assists, 1 turnover. Just stats, tho.

Second of all, in game: whenever Wright had the ball, and was looking to make a play, he made some pretty good shots, and some downright beautiful passes.

here's a good example, but just a small example when compared to the other great passes he made during the game:

Now, with Eddie Gill, he sucks. Antoine ain't that bad at passing, he can shoot fairly well, and he can defend great. He got some minutes at PG in summer league, so why not give him some responsibilities in games? I'm sure Kidd could use the rest, and the team could use another creator with Vince out. Why not make that Antoine?

I'd rather that in some cases because we keep our size factor along with it as well. Of course we need Gill out there sometimes too but the offense stalls when he is out there.

I said the same in another thread. The only problem is that he's having to play a lot of minutes, and guarding opposition's best wing player and having to do a lot on offense might be a bit too much to expect night in and night out.

We really have no choice until Carter, Armstrong, and Marcus return.

When I watched the game, I found that Antoine Wright is not a selfish player.

I don't mean he just dares not to shoot the ball, he looks more confidence now,

but he always makes the nice pass, for example, he passed to Sean Williams in the paint to make a dunk.

That's really nice, I don't think he could be a PG, but he is a nice passer when somebody is wide-open.

I want to see this lineup:

Marcus, Wright, Williams, Boone in the 2nd unit. That would be very exciting to watch.

He could pass to Williams or Boone, the two violent brothers would dunk the ball at the same time.

When they drafted him, I hoped he could fill the role Lucious Harris had.

Play good defense, take care of the ball, hustle, spell Kidd for short stretches at the point, knock down a three here and there, and generally not do anything negative while filing in wherever he was needed.

Well, it seems like he is right on track.

You don't have to be an All-Star to help your team win.

I think you might have one too many Williams' in there (or a typing stutter...).

antoine has more steals than turnovers . . . also more blocks than turnovers . . . .also more three-pointers than turnovers. There are only three players in the league like that. But he also has as many offensive rebounds as turnovers! He is also hitting 47% of his shots and has a 4-1 asssit-to-turnover ratio. The point is that he creates more possessions than he uses up. Truly remarkable. He isn't remarkale at any one thing (except maybe defense), but he contributes a little bit in many different ways. He needs to draw more shooting fouls, though.

Wow...didn't really think about it that way, but that's the exact role I'd love Antoine to have, now that VC and Marcus are out. That'd be perfect for him to "fill the Lucious role".

I hope Frank is thinking the same way, in this regard.

And then there is the great Boki Nachbar, who has one offensive rebound, 22 total rebounds, 9 assists, 3 steals, 29 fouls and 23 turnovers.

He's shooting 33% overall, 26% from three and has nine threes all season.

All this while playing some truly atrocious defense.

Which one of these guys should play when Vince gets back?

Many of his turnovers have been lazy passes that have been tipped or intercepted. I don't think he has stepped out of bounds once! At least he has improved in something.

It's been ten games. There comes a point when it is more than a slump.

There have been 398 players in the NBA so far this year. 304 of them are averaging at least one point per shot.

#312: Nachbar, 0.96 points per shot (80 shots)

    #354: Krstic, 0.80 (74 shots)

    #359: Magloire, .77 (22 shots)

    #376: M. Allen, .63 (38 shots)

    #378: Collins, .63 (8 shots)

    #389: Boone, .42 (12 shots)
