"Manager Ron Washington wanted to rest Ian Kinsler on Wednesday, but the second baseman didn't want a day off.

So Kinsler, six days removed from the disabled list with a sprained ankle that caused him to miss the first 22 games of the season, was in the lineup for a sixth consecutive game.

Kinsler said he wanted to play because. the Rangers had a chance to complete the road trip with a 5-1 record, and his ankle felt good.

"It's getting better every day, and my legs are starting to feel better," he said. "I feel like I'm ready to play every day."

Kinsler conceded that he understands Washington's concern. The team need Kinsler for the long haul. "
