Anybody else find this odd? The article describes it as if its a commonly accepted happening, but I don't think I've ever heard of something like this before.

Also, what are your thoughts on Iavaroni? I was interested in him the year we (stupidly) re-signed S'Mitch. But I'm not so sure now. I've heard that he's got an excellent coaching pedigree but has yet to establish his own consistent coaching philosophy.

Keep him away from the team. He can't coach at all. Period.

u do realize anyone is better than triano. as an aside- the biggest mistake this team can make is making a gamble hire like an euro coach or another inexperienced coach. this team needs stability

The problem is that we have no guarantee Smitch will get hired. If not, we're still paying his salary. Therefore we can't afford to pay the salary of a big name coach (in theory). So, we can only hire a mediocre coach. Iavaroni fits the bill. Not that its a good thing.

I was hoping for your input, given that you're our resident Grizzlies fan. What's specifically wrong with him?
