<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Assistant coach Marc Iavaroni will be back with the Suns next season.
?This is something I wanted to announce about a week ago but because so many of the Suns people were in other parts of the world we just couldn't get it together," Iavaroni said Monday.

Iavaroni interviewed for the vacant head coaching job in Portland and was also rumored to be a leading candidate in Seattle, but neither panned out.

Portland hired former Sonics coach Nate McMillan earlier this month and Seattle promoted assistant coach Bob Weiss on Monday.

?I just didn't want to be associated with any desire to get out," Iavaroni said. ?I know to get a head coaching job, that's what you have to do, but there really isn't anything that interests me nearly as much as being right here."

Nobody is happier about that decision than Suns coach Mike D'Antoni.

?He is critical to what we do, and I think we were able to convince him of that fact," D'Antoni said. ?It sure will make things a lot easier, having him around."

Iavaroni has been a Suns assistant for three seasons. One of his main duties is working with the club's big men and he is widely credited with the rapid development of Amar? Stoudemire.

Despite published reports that labelled him a leading candidate, Iavaroni said his agent wasn't contacted by Seattle until after he had made the decision not to pursue another job.</div>

I'm not too familiar with coach Iavaroni, but it seems good for the Suns and if he relly is "critical", it's a good thing they re-signed him so I guess... [IMG]

It's a good thing they locked him up because the players really like him. He could of been a head coach with another team, but decided to stay with the Suns and look to build off last year.

That's great he's staying he can help Kurt Thomas get even better, and can defenitley help Amare become a defensive player.

Ivaroni is one of the best big man coaches in the league. He deserves a ton of credit for not only the development of Amare but many other players as well. It is great to get this man back.

He's really good but what we need now is some big men so Ivaroni can train them.
