Moratti: Ibra Deserves Golden Ball, Not Kaka

QUOTE

Inter President Massimo Moratti has labelled Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the best striker in the world and says he deserves to win this year’s Balon d’Or.

The Swedish superstar has had a scintillating start to the season, already scoring seven goals in Serie A and four in the Champions League.

Last year he was also instrumental in leading the Nerazzurri to their first Scudetto on the pitch since 1989.

Despite this, AC Milan phenomenon Kaka is the odds-on favourite to win next month’s prestigious Ballon d’Or prize, something that Moratti completely disagrees with.

“Who says it is too late for Zlatan? He is the best striker in the world,” the Nerazzurri chief told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Ibra deserves the prize more than anyone and he would be a good choice.”

Several Italian news sources last week reported that Kaka had won and that Milan were already organising travel arrangements for him to pick up his award.

The likes of Andrea Pirlo, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are likely to fight out it out for second and third place at the December 2 ceremony.
