The owner of the Sno Cone Joe franchise reportedly stalked a Mr. Ding-a-Ling ice cream vendor, telling the man, “You don’t have a chance! This is my town!” http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sidesho...man-reportedly-threatens-rival-211316221.html
My family story - my great grandfather had a pickle cart in NY city back in 20's. he was also a bare knuckle boxer who made extra money fighting. A couple of thugs (mafia perhaps) tried to push my great grandfather around to take his money and make him pay for having his pickle cart in their area. My GGF beat the crap out of those two thugs so thoroughly they left him alone from that day on. It's just a family story and I've heard it told a couple of ways, including an uncle saying that my GGF actually became semi-mafia (although Jewish) and earned a good portion of his money over the next few years being muscle for the mafia. I wish I knew the full story, but one thing is for certain, ice cream carts and pickle carts can attract a seedy side of life.
What the hell is a pickle cart? They just served pickles, or is that just a slang name for a food cart? Honestly never heard of that one...
