...since neither plays the OF, I'd say no...besides, they'd probably take awhile to get their timing back. Boras once again misread the market. ...but maybe Drew could play the IF, and Solarte could move to the OF. ...I'm just not a huge fan of either Morales or Drew and I don't think they'd make much of an impact for the Yanx. Morales is pretty much a DH...And with Middlebrooks out, I would not be surprised to see Drew back in Boston.
I can only imagine what Drew is thinking right now....! I would think, "that SOB agent of mine, he should be paying me". I'd pay half of Drew's salary, if he off Boras....! A small price to pay, to clean up MLB Greed.
...this is about the fourth or fifth time Boras has cost one of his "stars" money...I remember Damon, and Soriano (the pitcher) getting bit as well...and I believe there were others.
I doubt either will be signed before that deadline in which the Yankees would need to forfeit a pick... and at that point, they've been out of the game for a long time......
Just saw Drew has been signed by Boston... http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2014/05/20/heyman-red-sox-sign-stephen-drew-to-1-year-deal/
Looks like he's getting the original 1 year offer, prorated for the remainder of the season... About $10M.
...so in essence, he turned down the Sox's QO, only to accept it months later...and lost $4 Mil.........BRILLIANT !
