If a team like the Knicks tossed a max deal at Crabbe - would you match?

I would. Even if we consider it to be too expensive for a bench player, you could turn around and trade him. He's still an asset. We can't afford to let him walk for nothing.

I think they will and not just to trade him...he's earned a good solid contract and is really loyal. I think they see him as part of the core going forward and both Stotts and Olshey have praised his work ethic and improvement....they don't talk that way about Meyers

I really like what he brings as a shooter and defender off the bench. He could likely start and be effective so I agree, we need to match seeing as how he's young and prodictive.

According to his exit interview, he's not money driven and really wants to stay so I don't think they'll have to offer him the max unless they are forced to match...somebody will make us overpay for one of our restricted free agents....I think Leonard will get the offer and we won't match in his case

According to Basketball Insiders: Max contracts project to start at $21.1 million for players with up to six years of experience, $25.3 million for those with seven to nine years, and $29.5 million for those with 10 or more years.

If that is the case, no way. You have to pay CJ next year and you would then have almost $70 million wrapped up in just your back-court. I hope Crabbe can stay as well but if it's much over $10 million, with the other bigger holes you have in this roster, I take my chances or let him go. I'd sign-and-trade him but that isn't as easily done as it used to be.

I think Harkless is more likely to get a max than Crabbe, just on potential.... but yes, you max him..... unlesa its a ridiculous amount. We can't afford to lose him. We didn't pick up anyone in the draft and it would be a significant loss to the bench. We can always trade him down the line.

I think it's very likely that it's in that 14-15 million range..... and in the new salary cap that's pretty standard man. You need to stop thinking in terms of the old cap.

Danny green got 11 million per year in the old cap. And he sucks. Crabbe at least still has potential.

And I've said it before, but Crabbe's numbers as a starter compare very favorably to Wes before his injury.

This was from the article I wrote a few weeks back - "Even more enticing is Crabbe’s numbers as starter, though we only have a small sample size to look at. During a stretch of 8 games this season where Damian Lillard was out with an injury, Crabbe slid into the starting lineup and put up 15.9 ppg, 43.6% from the field, 39% from three, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 32 minutes per game. Just for comparisons sake, Wesley Matthews averaged 15.9 ppg, 44.8% from the field, 38.9% from three, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 33.7 minutes per game in 2014-2015, and he was signed to a max contract by the Dallas Mavericks last summer."

    No.

But I submit for the record that Penis Kancer got a max contract last year. Crabbe may not get a max, but I think he can leverage the "I'm a 3-and-D guy" thing for well more than Aminu & Davis collected last year.

I would match the 13-15 range. I think that's a movable contract, and I hate the idea of letting someone like Crabbe walk for nothing. But 20+ million? Yeah..... I don't know.

My guess would be Crabbe gets more. Throw out the stats, I think the perception is that Crabbe is the more dependable outside shooter of the two and is considered the more valuable player.

Crabbe also has a larger body of work. Harkless drifted in and out of the rotation last year. He was traded for table scraps by the Magic. I think he did enough work in the playoffs to warrant a decent contract offer, but he's not going to get the type of big money deals that Crabbe will. I think teams look at Crabbe and they see a starting 3/D guy. Recent history has shown that those 3&D guys get sizable offers (IE Green and Wes)

It really depends where we are in FA. If we have used our cap space and we really have nothing to work with then sure i'd match. We are a young team in a good cap situaiton but this is the only year we will be in a good cap situation, overpaying Crabbe doesn't mean we will be screwed in the future because we wont have capspace in the next few years with Dames contract/CJ extension and a few others getting a pay raise.
