I think it will be a further indictment of the level of greed of the top players in the sport of football. They all make way too damned much money as it is, and I think that renegotiating an existing contract so long before its end is so incredibly wrong. That sort of thing just doesn't happen in real business, so why is it tolerated in football. I would like to think that Frank might consider just how much money he is making, and how often his performance this year have been below par, and just accept that he is nicely set and should be thankful for such a nice job, which pays you well for doing something he loves. I have been a Chelsea fan since 1969, but I am quite ready to call a spade a spade when it comes to greed. I realize that loyalty can only go so far, because you can be cut loose from a team at any time, but it would be nice to see at least some decent level of loyalty for players who are multi-millionaires...
It`s the club that contacts player to renew a contract, in Lampard`s case because of UEFA rules he can buy himself out of his contract, so the longest it is the more it will cost to buy out. Lampard has already stated he will not buy his contract out and is looking to stay at Chelsea, what more do you want from him? No player has a season when there is a time he doesn`t go below par, saying that Lampard has played so many games for Chelsea with so few injury's that i think he has done well too keep going as well as he has.
Why was you not asking about Lampards loyalty when he left West Ham. If he does go he will leave a HUUUUUUUUGE gap in midfield so you could replace him with Jonny Vegas
