Like to see that guy in Pinstripes but only at a fair price. Note: fair price with Cashman negotiating the deal is always too high.

He's only 24 years old, guys like him & Harper are the only two players that I would give 10 year contracts to.

Per the LAA roster Trout is making 6 Mil per year, quite the bargain alongside some of the duds the Yankees have making 3X as much. From what I've heard about the Angels Farms system any team who does wind up with Trout will have to have a good stock of prospects

I doubt Ref, Sanchez, Judge and Byrd will be enough. (I'd hate to part with Byrd, and I've not given up on Severino, not for another full season to come). The Halo's have to obtain quality starters as a priority, as well as some position players. A decimated farm club, victim of those similar long term Trashmanesque contracts as well...(One can't bitch enough about big $$$, long term contracts, when players are 29+)...

Tho' if I were going to give a long term contract, of course Harper and Trout come to mind, up front dead center...

Ya' know the Angels will take the highest bidders, in teams who are willing to part with the most/enough talent, to strengthen the Team now, and into the future.

When they're done, all they will need to put the icing on the cake, is the very guy they will trade....Trout himself....

a lot of similar parallels with the Yanx/Halos, in numerous ways...

We all know money swears, but, will a hometown Jersey boy, choose bigger $$$ to play elsewhere, than fulfill his boyhood dreams of being a Yankee...?

Then there are the Bums, who won't stop at anything, for anyone at any price, (their Owners decimation of MLB has begun, 2 years ago). This group will become an issue in years to come), with disregard for the financial aspects of the game...

...as far as Trout and Harper, the problem with acquiring them is that the Yanx are no longer the only team with the ability to spend big for FAs...with the more recently added TV revenue deals there are a lot more teams that will be in the bidding for top FA players...and keep in mind, not every player wants the scrutiny of the NY media, market, and fan base.

...sooner or later the Yanx will have to learn how to develop there own players from within...and in order to do that there will have to be changes in management made first.

Trout's development was aided by the fact that the Angels treated their farm system as the bench. Someone on DL they promote AA and AAA guys and give them a taste. Cashman just throws money around and gets stuck in the echo chamber of past results surely extrapolate to future events.

There is no way to predict what a trip up could do to a young player...but precedent shows talent becomes hungrier to get back to the show.

Angels also strategically do not tie up roster spots with huge contracts where they have critical talent in the farm system. This is where Cashman is an abject failure.

...fwiw, I realize he's only 23 but I'll be glad when Harper matures and grows the fuck up.

^^^Yeah Ron I agree, as talented as he is he really strikes me as loose canon & I think one day his mouth is going to get him in real trouble.

...yeah, again, I know that sports can be very competitive and yes, talent goes a long way towards my overall view of a player, but the way in which he carries himself is just as important, IMO.

...Derek Sanderson Jeter was never thrown out of a game...at any level.
