I hate to open this can of worms, but if Saban decides he wants out, then what do the Dolphins do? Who are the best coaching candidates that will be available? Perhaps I'm worrying about nothing. Does anyone think that Saban might be entertaining the idea of heading for Alabama?

Saban leaving is a mighty big if.

Elsewhere on the net, it was stated the phins need to bring in a offensive guru and the name that pops up (& 1 I like) is Chagers OC Cam Cameron.

This would be ideal if Capers were to stay as DC and make Randy Mueller a legitimate GM and not just an advisor/figurehead.

I just heard on the NFL Network that there should be a press conference in Miami today to announce Saban's decision one way or the other.

Having thought about this for awhile, I've come to a conclusion. Wayne H. should tell Saban to go and not let the door hit him in the butt on the way out. Then, he should to the Patriots' Scott Pioli what Alabama did for Saban and give Pioli a deal too sweet to decline. It's time to give control of the team to a proven personel guy and let him bring in a coach. After that, he needs to go to Jason Taylor's home and convince Taylor to come back next year. First thing is first though and I'm praying that Saban leaves for Alabama because he clearly isn't committed to the Dolphins and I don't want to waste another year just to have him ditch the team next spring.

Saban gone = Dolphins 4-12 or worse next season.

Im not upset he left....if he wanted to go elsewhere, he should go be happy....but his time in the NFL was a failure, and I think you could conclude that he couldnt hack it....

Gotta agree 100% w/ Beef on this. I did not think he would but listening to Wayne H last night on SportsCenter you knew Nick was gone.

I am disappointed how Nick handled things but at least he's consistent. LOL?

Ideally, I'd like to see Bobby Petrino @ Louisville be the next phins coach. Is that why Nick needed more time to "recruit" BP?

Cam Cameron of the Chargers is the current hot assistant. I'd even settle for Jim Fassel. Bottom line; an offensive mind is needed @ HC. If they went w/ another Defensive coach then Rex Ryan in Baltimore is choice.

420; You may be speaking way too early about the phins record next season.

Id take Petrino in a second if Brohm comes with him....

Also, this wasnt about the money, because he got less from Alabama....his yearly salary will drop from $4.5 to $4 mil a year....this was about enjoying the college game more....it could very well put the franchise into a tailspin if its not handled well....4-12 is possible, but hire the right coach(like Mangini was for the Jets), and they could go 12-4 too....I have no idea whats going to happen....

After further review, I am kinda pi$$ed. I recall something my mom said to me growing "Quitters never win & winners never quit."

My Alabama hat is getting buried in my closet for awhile and will only wear my Auburn hatas a "tribute".

My only hope is Bama gets thrashed by Auburn, Tennessee, & LSU the fiirst few yrs of Nick's tenure in Tuscaloosa.

One comment from Wayne ("I feel the pain and so forth and so on of Nick and Terry") makes me think it was much a family issue as anything. The lifestyle of an NFL coach is certainly different than college, especially one with responsibilities beyond just coaching the team.

Saban has always seemed like a go-getter, so I'm not sure he'd give up on things that easily. Even as a motivated person, family came come first.
