I would rather get a package centered around Gabe Vincent, Caleb Martin, maybe Duncan Robinson, maybe their rookie, and future picks. Tyler Herro has more star power but he is almost as big a liability on defense as Lillard is and if we're forced to play him 30 minutes a game it would ruin our defense. I really don't want Herro but maybe we could flip him for something good through a 3rd team...
Say no to anything from Miami. Say we trade Dame, why would we need Herro as PG when we have Scoot and still might have Simons on the roster too? Doesn't make sense for us to take Herro
I like where your mind's at but I'd rather have Herro (for flippability later, if nothing else) than Robinson. Sure, the young guys would be useful, but the numbers also need to match within CBA regs Dame's salary. And Duncan+Caleb+ (Gabe is UFA and would have to be his own S&T transaction) needs another 12M or so to meet that.
If we're rebuilding makes sense to flip Herro in the trade to a 3rd team for a bad contract and a pick(s). If we trade Ant as well as Dame then I guess Herro would be ok to keep as a 3rd guard. I'd prefer having Ant to Herro. But I'd much prefer Herro to Duncan Robinson or such as Brian mentions.
I would be fine trading Dame to Miami if Miami can find a taker for Herro. For example, if Dame turned into Jarrett Allen (via Herro trade), Jovic, salary, and unprotected 1sts in '26, '28, and '30, I would probably take it if Miami is really where he wants to go. Next year, there are several guys between 6'8 - 7'1 that might be in the lottery. If Dame turns into another foundational piece to pair with Scoot and Sharpe and draft a big forward or C, we'll have potentially four foundational pieces for the future after one true tanking year without a star player. That could be a quicker turnaround than the Pistons or Rockets, who have been tanking for some time now.
The onus is on Pat Riley to facilitate the third team for Herro because their package is so garbagio. They could also do another trade to free up encumbered picks, making it 3 picks and 3 swaps.
We are not trading Dame to Miami. Makes no sense to. I am hopeful we get him a couple of dudes and make some noise next year. Dame gonna retire a Blazer
If we could flip Herro for something good then we could trade Anfernee. And we can't trade Anfernee. The only way Dame goes to Miami, the ONLY way, is if Brooklyn has zero interest. Because Brooklyn's worst offer is better than Miami's best.
I think that Portland and Miami would try to find a 3rd team. Who knows, maybe that’s what they’re doing?
Apparently we win this trade. Probably because we don't get Herro. I seriously prefer it to any trade that includes Herro - cap space is better.
That is a disaster of a package. Two young guys who haven't proved anything, two guys that won't even re-sign with the team, and Caleb Martin, with no picks. Thanks...
We just win the trade because of the combined statistical contributions. That's a terrible trade for us. If Miami had any chance of getting Dame and I doubt they do, they would have to find a team that wants Herro and get us more value that way. They'd have to give up their two available FRPs and they would have to take on more salary not us. And still I don't think it would be enough to beat what the Nets could give us.
