how do you guys feel about him being replaced by payton? a backcourt of payton and cassell has already been proven to work. Although it will be quite an old backcourt, i think if the wolves can get payton for a similar price the lakers got him for, he'd be a great addition. He doesn't like the triangle and likes to get out on the break... who better to run the break w/ than KG and Spree, with cassell trailing behind for a 3-pointer if the key is closed off to KG and Spree? Aside from the age factor, i think payton would be a great addition. What do you guys think?

Well the Bucks situation was a bit different because they both were able to start. But even tho its only one fully season removed, its clear that they wont both be able to start in Minny. GP defense was the reason why they both were able to start because he would always be able to take the tuff defensive assignment whether that be a pg or a 2-guard. Even tho I dont think GP defense is as bad as its been this season with LA, he has still cleary lost a step on D. And probably wont be able to be that defensive stopper you need in the backcourt for both of them to start.

Which means Hassell would stay in the starting lineup & one of those two would go to the bench, most likely GP. I dont think Gp would go any where he cant start. If he doesnt go back to LA, he will probably go to somewhere where he can prove he is still a top notch player. And get back some of the respect he has lost in the eyes of some people.

Dont think that would work to many ego's plus how would you work playing time in for all those players the starting lineup would have to be for them all to start payton, cassell, spree, wally, KG that wouldnt work then you got role players like hassel, hoiberg, ebi, and all those who also want playing time like the lakers proved a team wins a title not a team filled with super stars plus cassel was just named to his first all star game this year and he did make the nba second team so why mess with something he is already use too make minor ajustments to our team in my opinion dont bring in players with egos and payton did nothing for the lakers even if it was the triangle offense if our team just went to the conference finals without him and with cassel at point why take a risk on payton and all the bagage he would bring to minnesota
