Let's say that going into next season, Webster, Outlaw, and Batum step into KP's office and say, "You have to make a choice. There's only room for one of us." If you're KP, who would you want to be the future of the Blazers at the 3?

I think Batum will be the best player of the three but I'd choose Webster. I think he is the only real perimeter threat on the Blazers and they will need it to free up Oden, LMA, and Roy.

Batum. The fact that he can step in and be competent as a raw, 19-year old rookie says lots about his ultimate potential, he already has shown that he has a ton of defensive talent and his game seems to project to a "fill up the box score" sort with good basketball IQ. Which I think is ideal for a player who will play with a bunch of other scorers.

The love child of Connie Hawkins and Scottie Pippen. However, until medical technology catches up, I'd say Webster.

Travis shot 40% from 3's last year and is over 50% this year making 1.6 a game. Thats qualifies as a perimeter threat right? Blake is a 40%+ guy as well and Rudy is probably the best shooter on the club. Bayless is going to be a solid perimeter threat too.

I voted for Batum as I think he's got the best all around game

Batum, without a doubt. He knows where to be, he is a great defender and he does not force anything.

I would keep Travis off the bench as a spark-plug at either the backup SF or PF position - and keep Webster as a backup SF if Outlaw is our backup PF.

Batum as the starting SF... exactly what this team needs... he is going to be great as he keeps developing.

I voted Batum, go all around game + BBIQ.

I watch him playing at 19 years old, and think back to how Webs/Trav looked like deer in the headlights at that age. The kid will be special.

47%FG, 36%3ptFG, 80%FT, at 19 years old an playing limited minutes. What's not to like?

Easily Batum. I see greatness for Nic on the defensive end. As raw as he is, he's already a good defender.

I'm surprised that Outlaw has so little votes.

He is improving, and working on defense and rebounding right now...

But he definitely is best suited as the backup SF and PF in a 9 man rotation.

I love Trout - but not as the SF of the future - which was the question asked.

I doubt Martell will ever be anything more than an average starter SF - so I voted Batum. Travis is a great backup SF/PF - but greatness in this position as a starter - I just do not see.

If they actually said that, I would trade all 3 of them!

Except Batum would have said it in French... therefor he may or may not have said it. (unless KP speaks French)

This is a very good question. I like all 3 players a heckuva lot. Long term I have to go with Batum. He's the best defender of the three and he's only 19. Short term I think Travis and Martell are just about even. I'd prefer to keep all 3 if at all possible though.

This SF from Deep Space Nine is one vision of SF of the future.
